Not as much of a downer as having your heart crushed, especially when you've got as much emotional investment as Marecki seems to.

My God Stitch!
YOU ARE SUCH A FUCKING DOWNER!!! Ask me about my girlfriend of two years who is currently trying to figure out whether or not she's returning to Australia.
Love will prevail? If you truly believe that then you've never been seriously tested.
While I'm at it, I'll also toss in that nothing in Marecki's original post makes me think that he's actually in love.

It can be done.
It takes patience, luck, and true commitment, but it can be done.
Just because something hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen.
Stitch on 16/5/2006 at 16:36
I never said it can't happen.
It certainly can be done, but not for everyone, and not every time. Nor should it be.
But despite my comments, I certainly wish him the best.

On the plus side, what Stitch has left out is that only seeing each other every two weeks enables each of you to sleep with whomever you want in the off weekend with the other being none the wiser. That's got to at least count for something in weighing the merits of a long distance relationship.

The first love of my life was from Phoenx, AZ. I tried living there; I was miserable. He followed me back here; he was miserable. It didn't help that we actually didn't have that much in common to begin with - we were just young, stupid, & in love. We made it work for several years, though, and made some happy memories in the process. So yeah, been there, done that. But I know a lot of people that have made long-distance loves work out for the best (my parents, for starters - Mom's from Germany, Dad's from the US).
P.S. Not being a totally heartless bitch, I sincerely hope things work out with you & your girlfriend, Stitch.

theBlackman, shadows: Usually it is, but not this time. I asked. Yes :D :D :D
Also, I mentioned PM etc. as a means for you to write me, not me contacting her :) We've got so many voice options now that there are no problems using them, actually we spent three hours on Skype yesterday... I think I'll get some book and read it to her tonight :)
dvrabel, Iggles: My bad. Basically, what I meant by obligations is that although both of us like what we're doing a lot and would like to get our respective PhDs, in case of both of us the jobs we've got here are at the moment the only thing letting us stay in the US.
GBM: Yeah, man. Thinking of Starr and you, and especially about Morrgan and Vigil, gives me a lot of hope. Thank you for that. By the way, we really should get together if you happen to be in Cali while I'm here - possibly have some other people from the area come over too and then we'd have the first TTLG Worldwide Meeting :)
Lacerta: I used to be fairly toxic when it came to sharing my problems. Probably still am, come to think of it, but now I am at least aware of this. So, I think I actually did the right thing by not poisoning her... The only result would have been her being unhappy and me getting relieved for just an hour or so, maybe even less.
Stitch: We are in fact an item. If you don't think my post shows I'm actually in love, that may be because I am not the blogging type so I like to keep my private feelings to myself; I've already exposed myself a lot to more-or-less everyone who can use Google as it is.
As for the country, that was a rather obvious thing to worry about so we've more-or-less gone over various aspects and don't thing that will be a problem; besides, if I have to go to China to be with her I will go. On that note, regarding your girlfriend - why don't you go with her? This is not a question that must be answered, of course; just some thinking material.
Also, what is this miles shit? Why can't you people use normal units? :ebil:
Last but not least, today's news: my harpy of a landlady has refused Qi to stay over, without even letting me finish explaining. That's it. I'm moving (hope I'll be able to find a place, although I basically could simply sleep at the lab it is not a particularly nice place to have any kinds of guests at, let alone such an important guest).

Because you're too busy crying your eyes out because she's been banging some Crocodile Dundee motherfucker on your weekends off?
