On a CRAZY WHIM, I decided to start a studio... - by 37637598

I don't really know you and you don't really know me and I know absolutely nothing about studios. But I just wanted to chime in here and say congratulations on having a dream and fighting for it - you seem to be totally devoted to the cause and ready to commit and put in the long hours. So many people exist out there who give up the race at the first hurdle, so I find it truly admirable that you appear to be prepared to go the extra few miles - I applaud you, sir!
I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your ventures, and really hope you manage to pull it off. Just keep your eyes on the prize and go for it with everything you've got. :)

Thanks Dark! I appreciate it! I figure if I want to get anywhere in life, I need to stop waiting around for other things or other people. It's all on my shoulders now, and I plan on carrying it all the way home! :D

Congrats on taking the dive into a business based on what you love.
Go down to Helena, and contact Dan Mergenthaler at MTS Freight or Mergenthaler Transfer and Storage. His commercials are crap, and probably could use some of your talent. Don't tell him I sent you though. ;) Just tell the big girl near the front door, Valerie, I said hi.

HAhahaha Awesome, if I get around to Helena, I'll do that for sure!
Everything's actually coming along very nicely so far. I'm getting a building this week, I'm excited to begin modeling it into a studio! I'll post pictures when I get it set up. Right now it's all in my apartment, and I can't even fit the studio lighting so i just have crappy little tin can looking lights... but here's a pic of my living rom:

I'll post some more updates in the middle of the week.

I hope everything is a success for you Numbers, and props for just saying fuck it and doing what you want to do.

Thanks Matthew! Every passing day has been a step closer to my success, so things really are looking to have a great outcome! This week will be one to tell the true pain and suffering a business owner has to submit in order to keep his castle, so if I can hold my stance until Friday, I'll will know that my luck perceives me.
Today I started working at 8:00AM and am still working, currently at 7:24PM. i haven't yet taken a break to eat, so as soon as I post this, I'll take care of that. I feel really good about the ammount of work and time I am able to put into this project, and still keep perfectly happy and sane all the while. Each coming day brings me greater joy knowing that my working goal is another day closer.
Until tomorrow!

Update: I purchased my business license! $57.00, I also finally found Chroma Keying software, AND I designed my business card, and uploaded my temporary web site!

My remaining budget is about 2K which will be eaten up in the first month of bills and the like. I also haven't even touched sound-proofing yet, and i don't think there are any professional sound proofers in Missoula at the moment, so i may just purchase a sound booth, depending on the cost and room I have available. I have already signed up 2 jobs, and i haven't even started working on contracts yet, so I'm gonna consult a lawyer tomorrow... One is a documantary in Canada, on 'War Veterans', and the other is a newspaper ad for a 'Clean Energy' company. I'm pretty excited to begin working!

The only advice I can give you so far is that the text on your website is made fairly hard to read with the glowy font. If I was looking for your services, depending on my budget, I'd be put off by that a bit. Otherwise, best of luck!

Thanks! I'll reduce the glow, I kind of thought that too, but then I convonced myself that I just have bad perception. I do appreciate it!
