Well, I don't think so, especially considering as there was a (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Nacht_und_Eis) movie made about the Titanic the SAME YEAR as it sank. Movies always find a way of "cashing in" (for want of a better term) on immediate tragedy or pop culture.
Anyway, here's the trailer for (
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/wtc/) World Trade Center.
Politically, it's rather a strange move for Stone seeing as he has a history of questioning his government's motives, like in Born on the Fourth of July, Platoon and Comandante. This film seems, on the surface at least, to be a rousing tale of the American Spirit™ and TRIUMPH OVER ADVERSITY STARRING NICHOLAS CAGE.
Anyway, I thought it was probably worthy of discussion. Apparently it deals with the whole 9/11 spectacle tastefully, if that's at all possible - and by that I mean, the actual planes hitting the towers and the lives lost, of course, all evidence from the trailer indicates that it will not be a tasteful film in any positive way. Fucking cheezorama.

Depends, if it isn't all conspiracy theory like his JFK, why not. Neither should it be memorial pornography, if it is a realistic movie that is just about the people it happened to, go ahead.

Looks like it's now officially "not too soon", as they're all pouring in now.

Having said that, Paul Greengrass has shown that he knows how to handle stuff like this with Sunday Bloody Sunday, and the Bourne Supremacy is just a KICKASS film.
Also, United 93's tagline -
September 11, 2001. Four planes were hijacked. Three of them reached their target. This is the story of the fourth - just rings better with me than Stone's
True Story Of Courage And Survival.

imo its an attempt to put closure to something so terrible that people just cannot deal with it. I don't think one can put closure to 911 and we all have our own way of dealing with this act by misguided cowards. I have a friend who is a NY police officer and he was there. He had to deal first hand with that horror while also dealing with the loss of his friends. He is suffering with 'why did I survive this' syndrome. So if he and anyone else who chooses to see this movie and it helps them heal then I applaud it.

I'd actually like to see United 93. I have no desire to see a movie about the WTC. Also I haven't liked Stone's stuff since Natural Born Killers. The guy has some wacky ideas, which isn't so bad, but couple that with his subtle sledge-hammer touch and it makes for grating film.

Stone is a sick individual, I dont think a movie should be made.:p Hollywood shouldnt treat terrorist attacks like a money making machine. Edit: I'm talking about the real thing, not idiot B-flicks.
