Old Thief 1 problem - TTLG Forums

No matter what I do, thief 1 will not work. I'm running an ATI card,which was the source of the problem-my old PCI card ran Thief 2 with no trouble-this one won't run either. It shuts down and I get the "driver does not accurately report texture memory" prompt (after i exit using cntr+alt+delete to get back to desktop). I am running the 1.33 version of Thief, so the driver patch doesn't work. I have no idea how to fix this--I feel like I've tried everything.
I miss Thief!! 1 or 2...... any hope here?

PS: I'm not a gamer (really) and not a programmer, so please explain any solutions like you would a 12 year old-because that is the level of programming jargon I can comprehend. I know how to use windows and files and all that biz, but again, not a programmer.

Try downloading and installing (http://www.filefront.com/16384349/ddfix-1.4.5-complete.zip/) ddfix. It's meant to solve those kinds of issues. I got a new videocard and got that same message, and ddfix solved the problem.

You can read more about ddfix (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) here, on TTLG. It's been programmed almost exclusively for the Thief games by one or two Thief fans, if I remember that correctly.
