Okay, these slaves are knotting my brain. - by Fred Chook

I've looked all over the forums I could find, and I can't get any one clear answer. Can you join the Twin Lamps? Or just work for them? I've freed nine slaves so far (3 from Seyda Neen, 1 from Hla Oad, 5 from Dren Plantation) and haven't got any leads there. I can't figure how to free them from Sadrith Mora, or the Arvel plantation, or Suran, or Molag Mar. Can anyone give me a hint, or am I just completely clueless and on the wrong track?

*chuckle* My best answer is that you can't join them as a faction (there's no applicable 'PCJoinFaction' call, which is how all other factions do it), but you can make members of that faction like you by doing tasks for them.
If you free > 5 slaves, if you ask a slave about 'go free' after you've already freed them, some will give you the topic of 'Twin Lamps'. Some will also give the passphrase if you've freed enough.
Upon asking him about 'Twin Lamps' (which requires the topic), Jobasha (Vivec FQ bookseller) will give you some books if you free enough (>30) and he'll give you the passphrase if you've freed more than 15.
Two slaves you find during the course of the game have independent quests that, if you take them where they want to go, will get members of Twin Lamps to like you better.
Ilmeni Dren has two quests that have similar results, but unless you're Hlaalu it's nigh impossible to get conditions right for her to give them to you. I'm sure it's possible, I just haven't nailed it down.

Huh... thought people had mentioned joining them. Oh well. No other factions I like the look of. Guess I have to join the bloody Blades. Rargh!
Any hints on further slave freeing? None of the other plantations seem to offer keys...
And why is there an altmer wearing nothing but a mask locked up in Suran? No, don't tell me, sure I don't want to know...

Just go raiding caves; 1 in 6 usually has slaves, in my experience. Especially that one right next to Seyda Neen, on the way out to Pelgiad. The fortress Hlormaren (N of Hla Oad) is another good bet, as is Rotheran (on Sheogorad); doing those early can screw up some side-quests though (Morag Tong & Imperial Cult, respectively).
Edit: Fixed an 'interesting' typo...
Edit2: There is a Twin Lamps mod... I've no details on it though.
