from what i saw and read,looks like what they show so far in game is a few mentions of past thief games as in crippled burrik pub,basso is in game,i am sure more will be in there,but all the faction's have changed one looks like some poor city folk/reminds me of some what civilized pagans,the guards are a more hardcore version of the city watch and it looks like the bad guy is some rich guy who wants all the poor to vanish from his vision of the city,of course that could be just a side plot to story

garrett also mentioned jenevier while talking about basso,so it would be cool if in some missions she is used to help you in missions
the tone of the game seems a lot more dark/dirty,reminds me of thief 1 in feel of graphic style of course way updated from thief 1
there will be from what i saw 2 ways to get the extra bank mission,either pre order game from game stop or buy the pc master thief box and get even more stuff with that
this time i will wait to see some you tube videos before i buy thief 4
also not sure if it will have a version of dromed of what ever makes the levels in game
still alot i dont know as in how will thief world map be layed out,in missions,in a hub like thief 3 or a new open world where you get access to area's when needed
thief is hands down my fav game series ever,and i know i will end up getting thief 4 i just hope its good in controls and story
one last thing i noticed about the videos i saw on thief 4,garrett kept saying alot has changed and he seemed alot more bitter,so i take it since hey not using story we are suppost to figure garrett is some bitter thief now in a city that is falling apart,then i would say why would a thief deal with that ,just go to a better city,the sotry already lacks major foundation,i hope my early opinion on thief 4 is wrong as far as story goes
also i figure to run thief 4 will need a new comp agian or i can get a console="i f****** hate consoles"
you would think they would give more time between game consoles releases,back in the day things were better with releases

Rope arrows are in game (contextual, look to be used incredibly rarely), Claw is an addition for low level climbing.

The story takes place in a different universe than the THIEF Universe...with only insulting, incongruent references from the classic THIEF games.

EM has shamefully turned the classic character "Jenivere" into a Magpie bird...Again, showing that this is not the THIEF Universe.

Good idea...Only a fool would support a bad business practice like "pre-ordering", especially when it supports a substandard misrepresentation of a beloved game.

I love the classic THIEF games, as well...yet, I would not encourage you to support something that makes a mockery of the THIEF name.

Keep in mind, that this new character they're calling "Garrett" isn't the same character from the classic THIEF games...as NuGarrett has a different personality, voice, a low IQ score, wears a corset, and likes to play with makeup...He's a different thief, in a different universe.

downwinder, there's a ton of info out there about the game that you're not going to get from the official web site, check out the "Article Index" that's stickied at the top of this forum for articles and interviews related to the new game. Or just read through the threads in this forum.
Not sure what you mean by "more time between console releases," this is one of the biggest gaps in console releases that I can remember. The 360 came out in 2005 and the PS3 came out in 2006, that's 7-8 years ago. That said, the new game will be playable on both current and next gen consoles (as well as PCs).

thank you all for the info i had no idea that jenavier was the bird,omg what have they done,they better not have messed with dewdrop.
i will admit i was one of the people who pre ordered thief 3 and still have the game,but never play it anymore as once you beat it like 3 times there is no replay value,and the fan missions for thief 3 are few and the good ones seem to run terrible on my comp
thief 1 and gold and 2 i have ,i did give gold version to a friend as i felt the order of the missions were terrible compared to thief 1 and the bonus missions were did not add anything i felt to over all game,except the ophra guy singing in the cavern lol,the mages towers was boring,and the over sized level should have been made into a mission,like someone did with a fan mission
i sometime wonder if looking glass would have never closed up what thief 3 and thief 4 would have been like.
if i look at the progression from thief 1 to thief 2 i see a ton of thing added leaving me to believe the growth of game would have gotten epic if looking glass would have stayed at the helm.
that is why when i play certain fan mission for thief 1 and thief 2 i can see how amazing game could have been with puzzle/story
just i noticed a lack of fan missions for thief 1/2
sorry for yappin i just need more thief,but new stuff,i replyed everything so many times,i can honestly randomly pick a fan mission from thief 1/gold/2 and know it.

You've missed a lot, downwinder. Dewdrop is a junkie living in some alley underneath a porch, turning tricks for gin. The most surprising plot twist is that she was once Garrett's "main girl"--if you know what I mean (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)--but after a series of unfortunate events, she has found herself on the streets, and is now acting as Garrett's confidant. She'll probably end up being the most essential character to the game: giving out tips for mission completion, lining up heists, etc.
