Ahead and behind, damn it. It'll all come full circle, mark my words.

What is, was.
What was, will be.
What will be, was, but will be again.

I just bought Morrowind GOTY... but I must say the premise didn't affect me much. Also it doesn't look very good. Yeah, maybe I became a graphics whore spoiled by Oblivion (and I am well aware of Oblivion's flaws, trust me)... BUT
There are some games which catch my attention from the start. Those are the best. Then there are some which affect me after some time of playing. Those are good too, but I think I'm loosing patience to try out every game and wait whether I start liking it after three hours of playing or I put it aside disgusted.
Oddly enough, I played Gothic 1 before Oblivion and despite it's technical obsolescence it totally immersed me (so maybe I am not a graphics whore afterall). Not only it was a living, believable, breathing world, but also it was very story driven. I expected to have the same impression form Oblivion, but I was wrong. In Oblivion the main plot is just secondary, accent is being put on exploration and side quests. I like exploration yes, but I also need to be motivated by a complex story. And Oblivion wasn't that case. I don't like the shallow characters, generic dungeons and primitive noob quests which Oblivion offers me.
Together with Morrowind I also bought Gothic 2... and to my surprise I was interested in it from the very beginning much more than in Morrowind. It starts right at the end of Gothic 1 storyline and you don't have time to wonder who the hell you are and why the hell are you in prison and what the hell you should do first. Gothic 2 throws you into the mainsteram of events like if friends toss you into the water to teach you swim.
I guess The Elder Scrolls series aren't my type of RPG afterall. :erg:

Gothic 2 is failing to hold my interest, oddly enough. I think its because I didn't realise the control scheme is as it is. I guess I should actually try to get more than 10 feet from the wizard and see how it goes.

Wow. In that case go down to the base, out of Xardas' tower and take a look at the pretty open natural landscape begging for exploration (exploitation?). Getting used to somehow unusual control system will be a lot easier.
That's how it goes. :cheeky:

Annoying me about having to navigate around a starting room is not. :nono:

Is it so bad? Mouselook, with optimal sensitivity as usual, movement keys as usual... worse is using movement keys in inventory.
