Thief 3 shocked me enough when i realized there was no swimmable water.
Since i wasn't able to find any kind of info about it in the thief4 forum or wherever, can someone simply answer to this important question.
there will be water in thief 4 ?
if yes, it will be swimmable ?
edit now: amazing not even 1 reply yet, i guess nobody knows it.. or may be it's just well-known and i am the only one left who doesn't... :/

We don't know. There is a lot more water, with the bridge and The River, but as of yet, no indication or mention of swimmable water. Just as we don't even know if we'll see Hammerites or Pagans anywhere, and just hear about 'em in the story.
Since they want to show off the Garrett model so badly, I wonder if maybe they do have swimming. On the other hand, since they are relying so heavily on motion capture, I wonder if maybe they don't. I wonder, too, if we can jump off the bridge onto a ship and die!

Swimming is one of the most enjoyable parts of Thief. Too bad TDS removed it. I hope Garrett learns how to swim again.

but i don't want to be too much optimistic.. let's wait and see the soon in-game shootage.

Dishonored - different company, different team, different engine. Not much of an indicator, unfortunately. I thought I had read something about swimming in one of the previews, but of course I can't remember which one. Or maybe it was just someone asking about it on one of the forums. Anyway, there's water in several of the concept photos, so I'll remain optimistic.

With the engines they have today, swimmable water is nothing. I don't see why they wouldn't have it. Even the reason TDS didn't have it was abnormal for the time... going back to engine limitations & animation problems they got screwed into for preventable reasons, which themselves were only a problem because they were under such a tight deadline they didn't have time to fix the damage.
We haven't been given a reason to think they've had any problem like that. If anything, they've had the opposite problem of taking too much time. So tech issues are the one thing I don't question they should have under control.

I've seen water and bridges, but at no point did Garrett actually swim, nor have they confirmed it. Hope so. Wish I'd asked that question in the interview now...
So I guess that we don't know for sure yet. Personally I don't really care whether there's swimming or not, of course insta-death water is a bad idea, but I truly hope that swimming isn't an important element in the game. There's nothing more boring than endless underwater tunnels and areas with nothing to discover. It might be somewhat fun if the underwater stuff is used sparsely, but I don't want to jump into every little pond or puddle to see if there's a hidden treasure or a secret entrance. :p

Yes, that was part of it IIRC. Of course anyone could run a search in the TDS forum to track down the actual quotes on it. The reason they couldn't have swimming & rope arrows are in there somewhere.

ok but the loss of waterswimming wasn't the main reason of the TDS' weaknesses
Honestly i didn't like TDS.. at all.. and the fear of another title like that gives me anxiety '
