He used to be a bit of a troll on the edge/ntsc-uk forums, as I recall.
Anyway, I don't want to derail, I'm maybe just bitter that I don't understand quicktime codecs.

That's because NTSCuk is full of over-protective we're all so clever and great self-congratulation. Campbell took apart one of the reviews instead of just saying 'wow another great review! well done guys!'. He was mean about it, but nothing on the scale of commchat, and the criticism was fully justified and well written - certainly not trolling.
Also, I think PCG sacked him over his Worms review or something.
Anyway, less Campbell + Codecs, more scary yet hilarious racists!

When Edge had a decent functional forum/community (2001-2 ish?), I was under the impression he was banned from that too for some reason. It was so long ago, I can't really remember.
Certainly getting kicked off that would be more of an indictment that being banned from ntsc-uk, which, as you say, can be a bit precious.
edit - ntsc-uk's history is littered with storied culls of forum personalities as well, in fairness

But this is a derail which interests me!
When would this Campbell review of Worms be from? I'd be pretty shocked to find that PCG let an ex-Amiga Power person anywhere near a Team 17 game, due to their 'history' (in which Amiga Power told the truth about some crap games and Team 17 acted like huffy children). On the other hand, it would undoubtedly lead to an most excellent review!
So .. any more info? Better yet, a copy of the review in question.
VVVVVVVVV oh that's right, he has a website full of his previous work which I look at quite often. Thank you, person cleverer than me! :D
Well, I largely agree with that assessment. I note it's from 1995, which would be amidst the AP-Team 17 'feud', or whatever you want to call it. Surely no basis for a firing though?

Total Derail: Worms was THE best after-pub-with-some-mates games out there at the time. Doesn't deserve 40%, ever.

That guy is pretty inept to forget the first half of the most important rule in politics: Never attribute anything people like to your opponents (the second half is to attribute everything bad for them.)
Shifting attention from prosperity by decrying consumerism sounds like the type of thing that crazy cultural marxists would do.
But seriously, he really does sound more like that goofy guy that grumbles from the corner of the bar or street than a political spokesman. More the material for t.v host.

Update! Someone rang up our favourite man in a cardigan and secretly recorded his conversation. When 'those blacks will steal your benefits and give it to their low IQ kids who will then mug you' was played back to the aforementioned BNP chappy, he says 'it's not racist, IT'S SCIENCE - where is the BLACK MOZART, EH?'
