EDIT 2, SON OF EDIT: Actually I picked up the coolest fucking thing the other day, <i>Nostromo</i> by Sleep Research Facility. It's a 5 track LP, each track named after the decks of the ship from A to E. The entire album is comprised solely out of sound taken from the eponymous ship of the film.

EDIT 3, THE EDITING: Did you know that the director, Ridley Scott, wanted the film to end with the Alien killing Ripley in the escape shuttle just after she plots a course for Earth? 20th Century Fox wouldn't have it, because they considered it too depressing. Just think how much my life would have been ruined if it had gone through. This film haunts me enough as it is

Not only was the alien supposed to kill Ripley, but it was going to send a distress call to earth after doing it, IN RIPLEY'S VOICE. at least that's how I heard it, I need to finally pick up that quadrilogy box set.

Oh, and happy birthday Jonesy, may you, too, be locked in a cryo locker with a younger, sexier, Sigourney Weaver for twenty years.
