Man, something crazy must be going on. Nbohr has been posting more, and Goldmoon's PMs are starting to take a more sinister bent.
I can't tell if they're just trolling the crap out of us, or if some asylum somewhere had to lighten their patients med regimens due to budgetary cutbacks.

Goldmoon's been PM'ing you? I know you're a moderator and all, but you still shouldn't have to take that.

It's just an occasional thing. If anything, I think he's bored.

If it proven that she lied, then he should sue her.

It's hard as hell for a government official to sue a citizen for defamation. Kavanaugh and his team would have to prove that she knowingly and willingly lied with the direct intent of harming his reputation. That's a difficult hurdle to pass.
...and if they do it wrong, it could very easily blow up in their faces. Remember, Ford is an upper middle class mother of two. Kavanaugh and co. represent the highest echelons of the US government. There's a reason why most senators, congressmen, judges, and presidents generally choose to forego pursuing their accusers after a scandal lands and settles.

He can try a defamation suit. He's a public official, so the standard is you have to prove she invented the story with actual malice to destroy him. The malice element is a hard sell in this case. The fact it was kept in confidence & Ford tried to keep it so doesn't help. To show malice you'd want to make it as public and humiliating as fast as possible, and you wouldn't hedge as much as she did (admitting what she didn't remember, etc).
Truth is also an absolute defense, and there will be a hell of a lot more scrutiny if he does. Given how serious the charges are, if he doesn't sue for defamation that will say how much he trusts his own defense by itself. I could believe he doesn't have any memory about it; why should he? But that's not a good basis for a defamation suit.
The thing is, how could a lie be brought up in confidence to their therapist six years ago, who would knowingly subject themselves to death threats just for one asshole candidate who will only be replaced with another just like him the next day, why bring it up when Kavanagh was shortlisted if it's not clear he'll even be picked, and why was no other shortlisted candidate lied about if the purpose is just to shut down GOP candidates for being conservative?

Okay, I haven't gone through the whole thing yet but the first assessment was wrong. She did explain how she narrowed the time frame with Judge working at the Safeway.
One more thing is that she said she could hear Kav and Judge talking downstairs but not what they said. She heard their voices but couldn't make out who they were talking to. That is different than the way Mitchel portrayed it and thus gives away her prejudice.

You keep saying denied the story instead of didn't recall. Raise your hand if anyone here is surprised that the prosecutor who was hired by republicans to poke holes in her story is attempting to poke holes in the story?
I haven't time to respond as I would like just now as I'm at work but really.
