Doubt he's fit for the role is legitimate reason enough. Given his performance today, he may be innocent, but he's certainly not a fit for the high standards expected of our Justices. That said, there never has been any standards for denying people the positions. Justices have been turned down on the past for any number of random reasons.

Also, I already said he's getting the seat, most likely. What I'm saying is that he shouldn't.
It's now clear after this hearing that Ford took action when she heard that Kavanaugh was on the shortlist, before he was even picked by Lord Dampnut, so the whole narrative how this all was made up just to stop a particular nominee is bullshit.

Not really. The day to day running the country still falls on congress' shoulders. What are the Republicans gonna do? Sue a possible Democrat house every time they pass gas, and work it through the DC circuit all the way up to SCOTUS?
You know, there's only so many cases they can take in a year.
Though at some point, 15 years from now, there might be one important case that makes its way through appeals, and ends up getting fucked over because Kavanaugh is obviously partisan as fuck.
