The Democrats are only asking for a week. Anita Hill's investigation took a few days.

Proving a negative does not enter into this -- this is not a trial, it's a job interview.
Incorrect...One is not required to prove a negative in any setting, whether that be in a trial or not.

I did not say anyone is required to prove a negative. I said this does not enter into it. Nobody is asking for anything to be proven, only for the background check to be reopened, so that the issue can be investigated more properly than a "he said she said" shouting match and a proper hearing can be held with evidence on hand, such as witnesses having been questioned.

There's a ton of contradictory evidence against Ford to make it easy to assume she's not telling the truth, but at the same time, there's enough evidence pro to support her claims.
In other words, it's not the full negative you're claiming. It's murky, far from being clear cut.
Though I don't think it matters anyone. It seems we're getting a vote tomorrow, come hell or high water.

they are asking for a week to keep him out from the session that is about to start, its a BS delay tactic at the cost of a mans reputation and the threats to his family.

THANK YOU. but repubs will NOT prosecute her or even try to do so because of the optics.

Think of it like this: if she's lying, and the Democrats are pushing for an empty investigation, it plays more in their favor not to get it, since if it's investigated, and it susses out more evidence against Ford's claims than for, they end up looking bad.
And reputations are cheap in Washington. Remember when Comey was the Republican's straight shooter? The guy who gets things done? Look at him now. He tried playing politics to save himself in a lose-lose situation, but he failed, and is now a pariah despite his previously sterling reputation.

It's the other way around, though -- the Republicans only want to deny a proper investigation because of their BS rushing tactic.

you assume the democrats care about Ford.

if the democrats wanted an investigation they would NOT have waited till the last minute, this is only to stop Kav from joining the SCOTUS session that starts OCt 1st.

They sure as hell care about themselves. Their reputations are as much on the line as hers. If she's lying, they put her up in front of the world to spread her tall tales to derail an innocent candidate from taking his seat on SCOTUS. Their fates are bound together.

And there would be no last minute if Republicans had not rushed the process by doing things like dumping large amounts of documents on the eve of the hearings and withholding a substantial amount of Kavanaugh's record.
