thank you, this is why as shown the democrats are not even trying to get involved in the negotiations, there are one million holes in her BS story, I have no need to "twist" anything as it's all based on her BS "testimony". and her willing to "testify" is ONLY if her DEMANDS are met............like open FBI investigation & subpoena the other guy and don't forget, Kav does NOT get to counter her BS claims AND the GOP can't put any women to question her....... yeah she's fucking lying IMHO.

The democrats are automatically involved by association, JK. If she is lying, there's no way this won't splash back on them.
So tell me, what do the democrats gain from putting a liar with an easily disprovable story up on camera? What does Dr. Blasey Ford, a well educated, comfortably wealthy, successful mother of two with a steady job at Palo Alto University have to gain by jumping headfirst into the woodchipper that is Washington DC to accuse a person she hasn't even seen since high school of a rape that, by your estimate of things, she knows he didn't commit?
What's she gained so far? Death threats, allegedly to the point she's had to rush her entirely family into hiding in case some idiot acts on a few of them. That's a lot of trouble just to fuck some random Republicans over, and maybe hopefully get a future book deal out of it all.

1. the will feign ignorance.
2. obviously if successful they can delay nomination until their alleged blue wave arrives.
3 take one for the team, she NEVER mentioned Kav until he was nominated to SCOTUS.
4. 15 minutes of fame, welcome to Murika. it's a book deal and a movie................

again, her demands where no women are allowed to question her just makes the repubs look like bullies, hell can YOU tell me that it's fair that Kav does NOT get to address her claims? go ahead, tell me YOU think that is fair.

Democrats suggest now that tough treatment of Ford at the hands of Republicans would victimize her.
"The woman should be given the benefit of the doubt and not be, you know, abused again by the system," former Vice President Joe Biden told NBC's "Today" show in comments broadcast Friday. Biden, who chaired the Thomas hearing and is considering running for president, said he regrets the way Hill was treated.

1. They can't feign ignorance. Feinstein heard the woman, vouched for her, and threw her into the confirmation. The rest of the democrats stood behind this decision. If the republicans can prove she lied, the democrats will face some fairly long term consequences for the part they played, and Kavanaugh will ride to SCOTUS with his head held high.
2. If they're successful, it'll behoove the republicans to drop Kavanaugh entirely, since nominating a now proven rapist to SCOTUS to push their usual agenda won't exactly do them any favors come November and 2020.
3. So why'd she do it? Was she just bored, sitting around one day, just happened to see Kavanaugh on the TV during an episode of The View, and thought "I'm an attention starved slut looking for a free handout, and he looks like an asshole in a good, compromising situation. I KNOW! I'LL UPEND MY ENTIRE LIFE, FAMILY, AND CAREER SO I CAN ACCUSE THIS PERSON I MET ONCE IN HIGH SCHOOL OF RAPE!"
4. She only gets her book deal and a movie if she's telling the truth. Otherwise, it'll be Kavanaugh getting the accolades.
You want to know why things are moving so weirdly slowly over this? Why everything is being so tightly controlled? Because everyone has something to gain from this, and everyone has a lot to lose.
The Democrats don't want to look so desperate, they're willing to fling anything they can get their hands on to delay the Kavanaugh hearing, even though that tactic is nigh a lost cause, because there's no way in hell they can delay things until January 3rd, when the new congress takes office.
The Republicans don't want to go so hardcore they end up looking like they're bullying a potential rape victim into submission just to get someone they like into the Supreme Court. They're already in choppy waters with the female vote as is.
The way things are going, either enough is said and done to make Kavanaugh look bad enough to get skipped over, or the Democrats utterly fail, he takes the seat, and their blue wave is damaged in the process. If I were to take bets, I'd say this will probably be resolved one way or another in about another month or so.

The reason why Ford is demanding a Thursday hearing, as opposed to Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, is to prevent the Senate from voting to confirm Kavanaugh before the month's end, which would leave him off the bench when the Supreme Court's next session starts on October 1st.
That is the immediate reason for the delay, which would also give more opportunities for further delay, if this coordinated delay tactic is successful.
Once again, sacrificing a pawn is well worth it, for the greater power that can be achieved.
...and,
an allegation without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence....so there isn't any obligation to pay heed to this assertion, at all.
Just the fact that there is dialog that ignores this basic principal, is "step 1" of a manipulation.

Missing from your post is, do you think it's fair that she gets to say whatever she wants without Kav Being able to reply to her?
The metoo movement got guys fired just based on one sided allegations. It failed here and it's obvious she wasn't ready for this big a mess , tell me her story does not have a million holes in it. Democrats are hoping this gets them the blue wave.

This isn't sacrificing a pawn, Vae. It's putting everything right on the line in a run up to an election season.

Actually, no. As I said, it behooves the Republicans to at least put up the appearance of listening to her side of the story, because they don't want to come off as crass and uncaring, only interested in getting what they want, and not letting some random woman who's screaming rape get in their way of putting their guy in during an election season.
What you're saying is true in a debate, but the only thing that matters in the court of public opinion are the optics that can be derived from a situation. That's Politics 101.

She is not a pawn. She is a person taking a great personal and professional risk. But go ahead and join the chorus of dehumanizers, Vae.
The allegation is not without evidence though. That evidence may be flawed but given the risk being taken by the accuser and the risk to the country confirming a criminal to the high court, it deserves investigating.

She's a pawn with demands that none of you would accept. She gets to say whatever she wants about you and you the accused are NOT allowed to confront her? Tell me that's fair

She's there entirely of her own volition. The Democrats are more than happy to abide her.
And her demands are pretty straightforward. She's playing politics to keep politics from being played on her. Think about it. Why do 51 senators need to get a bunch of women into the room to ask their questions by proxy? They're grown adults. They're the ones who want to put Kavanaugh into the Supreme Court. Let them do it.
...but if a bunch of men do it, it'll look like they're bullying her.
Yeah? And if a bunch of women do it, it'll be that much easier to dismiss her claims while claiming a lack of biased.
Don't think this is just about getting to the bottom of things here. While I'm sure there are a number of republicans who are just as interested in knowing the truth as any average democrat, anyone with a vested interest in what's currently going on will want to make sure the situation is best tilted in their favor.
Is it cynical? Sure is! But hey, that's politics! It's how the game is played. Welcome to America! The Republicans spent 8 full years of the Obama presidency playing dirty. They can't turn around now and whine about how unfair it all is when those same dirty tactics are used against them. This beast is partially of their making, and now that it's out, they're just as likely to be gored by it as anyone else.
This is the end result of birtherism, 9 investigations into Benghazi, IRS targeting scandals, and rumors of death panels. This is the world you wanted. This is the world you got. Suck it up.
