How is that pathetic semantics? I was pointing out a valid example of where you yourself would want us to be and yet the terrorists said that they would bomb us because of that! Fair dinkum StD :nono:

What I said was "We can still ... remain relatively terror free - if we stop sticking our oar in where it isn't wanted."
Note the use of the word relatively there?
Of course there will always be a few psychotics (like Osama) for whom even sticking our oar in where it is wanted by the local populace will still be used as a justification for terror. But the majority of terrorist attacks are a direct result of unwanted interference in places that we don't belong and aren't welcome.

True, but in cases where we've been invited to intervene by the local government, I don't feel that constitutes sticking oars in.
So what if we get a terrorist attack as a result of some action that was request by a foreign government? How does that fit in with your stance of "it's our fault we get attacked?" I admit I'm not too well-read on Timor in particular, but the question on a general level is a valid one, and I'm just not sure your argument is consistent here.
What if Israel was facing military defeat by a combined arab force and called us for backup?

Maybe a government doing something unpopular with either some of its own people or its neighbours'? How does that fit in with your stance of "it's our fault we get attacked?" But you were implying that by "sticking our oars yadda yadda yadda" that we were bringing the consequences upon ourselves by stirring shit.
Speaking of which, what's the go with you running around making these big statements that fire people up then either scurrying off or just dodging replies with the tactical use of ;)?

Why don't you learn to fucking read? Firstly, I didn't imply anything - I outright said it. Secondly, I didn't once say that interfering where we aren't wanted was the solitary reason for terrorist attacks, merely that by not interfering we would be
relatively terror-free.
Is it the definition of 'relatively' you're having trouble with, or are you and your butt-boy Convict merely intent on forming a tag-team of tardery?

I had certain expectations for StD, and he's let me down this time. I shall not forgive. ;)
I just knew he'd come through!
All is forgiven, m'boy.

As I understand it, Australia's peacekeepers were invited to East Timor. So you can hardly say that they weren't wanted by the country's administration.
The US was invited to Saudi Arabia by that country's government. And we all know how
that turned out.
