With my fm currently @ 82 megs (zipped). I received an email from epithumia concerning the size of this fm & if T3 FMs continue to be this large he doesn't hink he'll be able to host them. Either we find a way to reduce FM size or find a host who can handle the extra bandwidth. Any more thoughts concerning this matter is appreciated.

Eh? But there are a bunch of T1 and 2 FMs that are that size. Perhaps if all of them are that big...
I've yet to play yours yet so I don't know how big it will be compared to mine. Whats the height, width and breadth in Unreal units?

It's roughly
H: 2048
W: 5575
B: 12248
But it was around that size with beta 0.4 (47+megs). It's when I added more meshes, brushes, & custom textures it added another 30+ megs to it. The ibt files are the main cause. I did try w/o the Kernel_GFXALL & put the custom textures in the PCTextures folder but the map wouldn't run (and it only knocked off a couple of megs anyway). Beta 0.4 was with a default T3Ed install & I was force to use my tweaked install which included custom textures & a tweaked gamesys.

Jeepers. I thought mine was small. I'm not using any custom stuff though.

Well, I really don't know where I get info about height, width, and breadth about the whole map. It's a lot bigger than that.
EDIT: Yeah it's about that size. I selected all subtracts then wrapped the builder brush & I get the same info.

I'm making some great progress on the T3Ed installer folks. Trying to get the editor cleaned up as much as I can.
There are a lot of sound files that are shared with the T3 installations Schemametafiles as they weren't released with the editor. I think all the schema files for these sounds were released, so if I can extract them into the sound folders and integrate them directly into the editor, this will make life easier for FM's as well. After I get the installer to a certain point, I would also like to consider integrating some of the custom content that has been created for T3Ed.
I'm contemplating the idea of stripping the original missions from T3Ed and simply including a few smaller tutuorial missions. I would welcome the community to partake in producing these tutorials. If anyone is interested in doing this, pm me. I will give you a pre-release copy of the T3Ed installer for testing and tutorial construction. :) Still likely a month or two away though.

Are you going to put all of John P's textures in there? I think they could all go in except for the different Garret Textures, you could choose what you like, and have separate zip files for people who wanted to make FM's with the other Garrets. It will increase the size a bit.

I spoke to John about including his textures, he wasn't opposed to the idea. :)
What I'm hoping to do with this editor installer, is something akin to Dark Metal....make a single repository that people must download once, to play FM's. I will update it as need be and the existing installations can be patched to avoid downloading the whole thing again...until a signifigant amount of materials are added, then I would suggest downloading the newest version. :) That will likely take time to happen, so I don't see many problems.
The main goal is to avoid the huge IBT files.

That's good. I tried before to get something like this going, guess the T3 fan community wasn't mature enough.
Anyway if you need any help let me know.

Thanks drac, I sure will. Right now I'm just working on getting some of the retro systems in place...keys and key ring are fully functional. Hopefully lockpicks we can choose from the inventory as well. :) Once that is done...we'll have some HOT FM's to look forward to.
