Okay, instead of rolling your eyes, explain to me exactly what I'm failing to understand. You do a lot of grandstanding, but say very little to back up anything you claim.

Try something new that is congruent with the THIEF Universe...not bankrolled fan-fic.How is it not congruent? The baron and city watch could've chased the Hammerites out of the city. The Pagans might've bailed around the time the plague started getting bad. The Keepers? They're GONE according to the canon.
There are plenty of ways they can stay true to the source material without including them directly.

Vae: I know what you mean, therefore I agree with you? I think I understand your previous posts, but I don't understand this.
Look, I'm quite sympathetic to people howling about the missing factions: Hammerites in particular. I've never said otherwise. I don't agree that it "threatens the integrity of the thief universe", or perhaps more accurately, when I try to think seriously about that statement I don't see how it makes any sense. I also think being "insulted" is complete bonkers.

The canon does not apply anymore - this is a reboot. They could have Hammers, Pagans, Keepers, Mechanists, and do whatever they want with them. It completely irrelevant what happened in T1/T2.

Because it's a reinvention, we are not going back to the old factions."
So you see, by their own admission, they choose incongruency with the THIEF Universe...and as such, have chosen unwisely.

Listen to me, the time has come to realise that the new team is indeed *not* modeling the game after the classics. I was holding out hope that they were sitting in some dark room playing Ultima and laughing at how genius their new Thief was gonna be. Now I see, they havent the slightest clue what Ultima even is, and have not even played through Dark Project. Of course they dont have the talent or ability to craft a classic like LGS did. They simply arent LGS and arent privvy to the mystical shit. Sorry.
:)
Look dude no offence, but I don't necessarily care about what you've specifically said. I'm still going to play the Thief Reboot(despite it's many shortcomings), mainly to see what they've actually ruined and what changes they've made to the formula of the franchise for the better(if any.) I'm planning to actually buy a PS4 at some point not only for renting Thief, but also to check out a few other next-gen titles that I find intriguing. If you feel like just sticking with old-school classic titles, that's fine. But don't try to force your opinion onto others, when it isn't needed. Got it? OK, thanks ;)
Anyway, I found this new interview that may or may not have anything new. (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1KtUsMVFog) Gotta say that I chuckled a little when Stephane said focus mode isn't a gimmick(when it truly is:laff: ) and at the start of the interview, says that this Garrett is the same one from the originals, just 10 years later and then goes back to calling it a reinvention. What is it then? A sequel or a reboot? Make up your minds Eidos Montreal!

But others have the same right to NOT like nuthief as you do to try it! And as far as I have read nobody was forcing anything on anyone! They were simply stating they did not like this new game and the reasons why.
If you don't like that too bad.
Personally, I will refuse to buy this game until it is out in a bargain bin. But you would be foolish to say I am only sticking with old school titles. I can't wait for GTA V or Watch Dogs to come out. Though I do not have to wonder if those games are going to be good or not as I have high expectations of both! Expectations that I no longer hold for this nuthief game.
I just do not see any longevity of this nuthief game when it will not have an editor to make fan missions like in the past. So it will be played and forgotten.

This is true, though from the way they're making things sound, it seems more like it's a retcon than a complete reinvention. As in, the things that happened in T1-3 might've happened to NuGarrett, albeit in an entirely different way. So the basic story is there with roughly the same history, but not the way we remember it.
There are enough hints there to think this might be the case. Such as Garrett being out of the city for a number of years being an apparently important thing, and the House of Blossoms being built in what looks like an old Keeper Library, complete with some very obvious Keeper Statues.
To me, the biggest character of the Thief games (besides Garrett) is The City itself. It's not the factions that make it interesting. They're just one part of a much larger whole. It's what goes on in The City that's interesting. A City where there's evidence of the ruins of the old factions, being replaced and built upon by a bunch of new ones could be just as interesting, if not moreso, than having them around as we've always known them.
