Yeah, it's been mistakenly called "Raven" by others...It's good to know the word Raven isn't associated with NuThief...;)

You might have seen it written in French.

I've now found it. First post in this thread!

Raptorll: Are the old non-City Watch factions going to return--such as the Pagans, Hammerites, and Keepers--if only to give life to The City?Because it's a reinvention, we are not going back to the old factions. We want new factions. The last story didn't give us a lot of options. We wanted to take a step back and make sure we have everything right for a new, fresh experience within this universe. There may be some references back to keep the following happy, but it will be all new groups.
The two new factions are the Baron and he has The Watch. We also have a dissident group called the Raven. There is a political conflict that Garrett finds himself in the middle of. There will be characters associated with the group that will reveal themselves within the game.

I point this out because the sense of outrage expressed here seems to assume that this is a personal insult on the part of the devs, a middle finger to the community. I don't think that's the case. I think you simply have a group of people who may be trying their best to infuse their own vision into an existing IP and falling a bit short (in some people's opinion). But look at the heights to which they must attain - they are not LGS. It's been said of LGS that they were "the smartest kids in the room," multi-talented etc. It was a very unique situation that is unlikely to be relived. We've seen this with The Beatles, Zeppelin, etc. - you take one part of the equation out, and it can never be the same. Without Randy, Doug, Emil, Laura, etc. it's simply not going to come close to the brilliance of LGS. Even Ion Storm, despite their best efforts (allowing them slack for time/budget constraints) fell short.
Interesting analogy, I agree. But, a Beatles tribute band should sound like the Beatles.

Kinda looks like the guy from Bioshock Infinite.
:ebil:
Ooops ... I got sidetracked on that site (never visited there before) & clicked on the 'Garrett' icon. And I'm very sorry I did. Thanks ever so, Vae. ;)

Thanks Vae - all I really need to know is I'm not barking.
I hadn't seen that before either and found it interesting but annoying. At least in my browser it is. Heads are cut off and text hides behind the Game Info thing or is cut off at the top or the odd 'g' at the bottom. Try as I might, I just can't read this as anything other than 'But to remain free in the of. City chains'.

And I'm not sure what benefit they'll get from the arbitrary date of birth I entered.

This is essentially just fan fiction with money behind it...and not to be considered THIEF canon, at all.
This is how I feel (barring further developments or information). If I can get my head around that, then I can play the game on its own merits, whatever they may be.

I agree with you Chade 100%
What I felt the upgrades were:
-Climbing Gloves
-City Hubs
-Ability to put out candles
-Sticking to Walls
-More useful economy
-Ability to help different factions
-Side Missions
-And in a few instances select which mission to begin first
Obviously it had it's downfalls, but someone asked for the improvements and here they are.
Haha it's funny, I have the complete OPPOSITE view, all those points REALLY annoyed me to be honest and I would love for them to be removed.

I tried that approach with TDS after it came out.
Epic fail.
