Yes I did do a search but can't find anything about this problem.
Been playing the game for a week or so now and have had no problems. However tonight when I went to play got an error message saying I only had 1 MB of space and wouldn't let me start the game.
I searched the tech thread and found a fix by adding a line in the cfg file. skip_starting_checks which got me back into the game. Now my problem is when I try and save a game while playing it tells me there's not enough space and won't let me save.
Seeing as I have over 30 gigs of space I doubt this is the problem.
I swear this game is haunted as I've changed nothing on my comp either hardware or software related. Why would I suddenly get this error after playing the game for over a week? I purposefully kept the game on my hard drive after the last time I played because I've always had problems getting it to run. And I'm still having problems.
Anyone know of a fix for this?

I get this error from time to time. You can fix it by adding or deleting files until the error is gone.
I would suggest adding, if you have a lot of free space... It sounds strange, but adding files also help. It seams that SS2 get confused by todays big harddrives....

I made a fix for this for Kolya, I believe its over at strangebedfellows.

I
did see that. And as I explained, that's how I got the game to run at all. My problem now is I can't save the game as it thinks there's not enough space.
How would I add space to my hard drive as it suggests? And what is this Koyla?
Thanks.

Yes instructions are necessary on how to do that seeing as I'm not very proficient with computers.
And I did go to strangebedfellows and found nothing there. I was just using the live chat thing, and they suggested moving SS2 to a smaller hd, but my other hard drive has even more space than the one SS2's currently in.
As to his fix... I've already done that and it still doesn't work although it did at least get me into the game. I can play the game after adding that line, but now it says that there's not enough space to save a game.... I've tried deleting some of my save games in the SS2 folder, but still didn't help.
Appreciate you're trying to help... Any other suggestions?

You can't figure out how to fill up your hard drive? Damn, I wish I had that problem.

No I don't have any problem filling the hard drive. I'm usually trying to conserve space. Seems like a pretty drastic measure though.
Anyway I fixed it by adding the "skip_starting_checks" line in both the cam config and shock config.
But thanks for your helpful information. It really was crucial to me getting it to run again.

Let me ask this: shouldn't defragging the hard drive solve the problem, at least in theory?
