Well, I've seen some well-developed arguments on these forums... And what about curiosities of physics and math? That thread has people talking about the intricacies of thermodynamics.

Well, that's actually an interesting / informative discussion for a few people. Contrast with 'imagine where we'll be in 50 years'

What do you think things will be like on Oct. 4, 2057? Where will we be? Colonization of the Moon? First flight to Mars?

Don't forget that triple-breasted cat stripper from Star Trek V and the infamous triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six.

I would like to think that in 50 years' time we will have at least two full-time research stations in orbit. I'd also like to think that we'd have returned to the Moon, with plans advanced to create at least a temporary presence there.

That's pretty to imagine, however I'm almost sure we'll have much better problems to deal with here on Earth. However, militarization of orbit may continue freely.

I absolutely cannot stand it when people start the 'hurrrr better problems to solve on Earth' line. No offence intended, but it really bugs me.

Sorry. Just realism breaks my fantasy. :erg:

Well, whenever there is a war or threat of a war technology development goes into overdrive. If space becomes a center of an arms race between the US and Iran of N. Korea, we could see a massive development in the technologies of spaceflight.
Likewise, such a conflict could lead to the establishment of military bases on the moon.
I'd like to see a space elevator by 2050. With a space elevator, transporting materials into space would be a far cheaper procedure.
