Today happens to be my 15th birthday. But that's irrelevant.
What is relevant, however, is that today is the 50th anniversary of the launching of Sputnik. So here's to fifty years of spaceflight- we've come a long way.
What do you think things will be like on Oct. 4, 2057? Where will we be? Colonization of the Moon? First flight to Mars? Share your thoughts.
By the way, I do realize that there is already a thread for Sputnik. However, I'm asking more about the future of spaceflight.

Catbarf, don't come to TTLG for useful information, come for the bad sex jokes.

Well... what the hell. I was hoping for some intelligent discussion on the topic of spaceflight, seeing as this is the correct forum for that sort of thing.
I wonder what it will take to really jump-start the space program. The first forays were just panic-mode during the cold war- perhaps tensions with Iran and N. Korea might lead to a similar period of development?

Did you not read my post buddy? Don't come for the intelligent discussion. :nono:
