I personally think my computer will run this on high specs hopefully:
Pentium D 2.8 ghz
Geforce 7800 GTX
2 gb SDram 533 mhz

Processor could be faster, but your memory and graphics card more than makes up for the 600MHz between you and most standard 'top-of-the-line' computers. I'm fairly certain you can run Oblvion with all of its goodies

Heh, new graphics card arrived today - Radeon X800XL. Sadly its an AGP, which could well be a bit of a bastard when I next upgrade but I wasn't prepared to dish out another £100 on a new motherboard which, aside from PCIe, is no better than my current board. My current specs are:
P4 3GHz 800MHz FSB
1GB Dual channel DDR400
200GB SATA
256MB X800XL
I can run Quake 4 smoothly on high settings (sadly not ultra though) so I think I should be able to handle Oblivion. Does anyone reckon another two sticks of 512MB RAM would be worth it? Its not like its that expensive but is there any point? Also, Will I be able to dual channel two sticks of 533MHz with my two 400MHz sticks? My board only supports up to 400MHz.

Specs:
Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz
1 GB Dual channel DDR400
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
I'm kind of worried about my processor, as my other specs seem to be just barely at the minimum. Would this be enough to run Oblivion? If not, I probably have enough money at the moment to afford one upgrade. Would the processor be the way to go?

there's no official word yet, but the german PCGames staff who played the current version of it had these comments:
the minimum you need is a cpu equivalent to an AMD 2800
a gig of RAM
a 7800GT video card
remember tho, this was on a game version from december 2005 and i'm sure there will be much more optimizing that will alter those requirements. i would add, however, based on MW's release, the best hardware upgrades you can get at the time of release will make gameplay much better.
and, based on my experience with MW's release, the cpu was the most important, followed by graphic card and finally, memory.

A 7800GT?!? Not too expensive then.
RyushiBlade on 27/1/2006 at 01:28
There's no way that can be right. Maybe it was the specs they had - but a 7800GT minimum? No way. Only a handful of people would be able to play it on the PC.

im still unsure if my computer will run oblivion, i seen heaps of different specifications. what do you think?
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
2 GB TWINX-3200 (400MHz) DDR RAM Corsair
ATI RADEON X800 GTO (256 MB)

I will be thoroughly damned if that does not run Oblivion with most or all of the eye candy turned on rather smoothly.
Now, I just have to wait for the summer to arrive...hopefully, I should have at least 2000 US$ to get that X2 4400+, 2 GB DDR-400, 7800 GT-based system I've always wanted...
...Damn it! All of your up-to-date setups are drowning me in gallons of envy! I just can't stop bitching about how my hardware sucks for some reason...
