\o/ hehe thanks, all that fame, so sudden :D
More seriously, I couldn't stress more for all people out there in the dark that the elderscrolls.com forums ARE the place to be if you are searching for enlightenment and info on Oblivion.
That is, until we have an Oblivion board here at TTLG...

Don't worry. I may be a new moderator, but if an Oblivion board isn't made, I shall have to hold Striker hostage :thumb:
I'm wondering if it wouldn't be too untoward if I were to make a sticky linking to the 'Encylopaedia Oblivionicus II.' Unfortunately, people tend to overlook Stickies.

Hey, folks. I do not know much about computer specifications but I know my computer's. I have recently acquired an nVidia 6200 OC to replace my MSI FX 5600.
My specifications are as follows:
Pentium 4 2.4GHz Proccesor
nVidia 6200 OC Graphics Card
512 MB RAM (Planning to add another 512 MB stick)
Do you think my computer will be able to handle Oblivion? If so, at what quality?
Thanks,

Anyone know if the game is going to be optimised for dual-core processors?
My spec as it stands:
Pentium D 820
Radeon X600 Pro
1GB DDR2 RAM
Which I reckon will run it okay, even more so when I get round to upgrading the 3D card. But if it ain't optimised, I'm guessing my processor won't perform any better than a P4 2.8...

At the time you can only guess... However, given the fact that Ob was developed with XBox360 (I HATE writing that pathetic name) in mind, the most reasonable answer would be 'yes'.

In a more recent update, Gavin Carter reported to Bit-Tech ((
http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2005/11/09/elder_scrolls_4_int/1.html) link) that the PC version of the game will feature the same thread-scheduling technology that's being used to take advantage of all three of the Xbox 360's CPU cores. In other words, this will mean that Oblivion will attain great benefits from multi-core CPUs. Note that the E3 demo and E3 trailer were made before dual-core processors existed, so they aren't necessary, but rather an awesome addition.

ATI Radeon X800GT
512MB DDR2 667 RAM
3.0 GHZ 64-bit P4
80 gig HD
NEC 16x DVD burner
Honestly, I don't care if it gets to medium settings on anything. I just want no lag.
My only concern is if I should double the memory. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

With this, you should easily reach medium settings, maybe even high. However you pointed out the right thing : to get the minimum lag ingame, at least 1G RAM will be required. For any gaming today, too, so I'd say "do it".
You're lucky, it's currently not the most expensive part of a computer.

Radeon's x800 series is pretty good. The thread mentioned previously says the x800GTO is 'high-end' meaning you can play Oblivion with all its prettiness - but perhaps not at a huge resolution. Or perhaps so. Regardless, you're fine besides the RAM.
