I defeated Morrowind without a monitor or speakers.
So... you used the braille reader real-time decompiler as well did you? :p

The secrets to my success shall be unnamed. It shall be sufficient to say that I did it because I'm so badass.

COMPUTER IS ORDERED!
im excited the computer came eccept for the case.
ive got a radeon x800
1gb of ram
160 gb hard drive
but im a little worried about the processor. its an athlon 64 with 512 cache but it is only a 1.8 ghz i hope it is up to parr.

Excellent choice! The only problem is, as you said, the processor. You may find that, although your graphics card is great, your processor won't be able to keep up with it. Still, I think you'll be able to play Oblivion fine.

Um, I have a 3 year old Athlon XP w/better specs than that. If you're going to "upgrade" than do it right. You can't be a cheap bastard when you buy PC parts. You could've recycled your hard drive, and got a 3400+, which is a half a GHz faster and double the L-2 cache. You'll need it.

I'm utterly screwed-in fact, I have been for a few years now. Ugh.
-AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino
-512 MB DDR-266 SDRAM(2*256 MB, single-channel)
-nVidia GeForce 2 GTS(32 MB, int.)/ATI Radeon 9600 XT(128 MB, 4x AGP)
-SoundMAX Digital Audio(2.0, int.)/SB Live! Value(4.0, PCI)
-60 GB HDD(RPM unknown, though it's problably agonizingly-slow 5400 RPM)
-Compaq Presario 6016US mobo(nForce, 266 MHz FSB, 4x AGP)
-200W proprietary Compaq PSU
-Windows XP Home Edition, SP1a
Why haven't I upgraded already?
-My stepdad refuses to grant me permission to do so
-I'm low on funds at the moment-1000 out of a possible 3000 US$
While 1000 US$ could buy me a much better PC, specs like these will run me around 2000 on Newegg.com, without display or speakers:
-AMD Athlon X2 4400+ or AMD Opteron 175
-2 GB DDR-400 SDRAM(2*1 GB, dual-channel)
-GeForce 7800 GT
-Creative SB X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS(I want the 64 MB of X-RAM, that's all)
-WD Raptor 74 GB 10,000 RPM SATA(SCSI is too expensive! I might get two of these...)
-Any S939 mobo with a PCIe x16 slot, dual-channel support, and support for all of the SATA standards
-Any PSU rated at 450W or higher, and is modular(so that I don't have to tuck away unneeded cables)
-Windows XP MCE 2005(or maybe I'll go with XP Home...or Pro if it's worth it...)
Might be overkill, but I want it to last long enough for me to accumulate enough money for the next new PC!

For those interested, there is a long running thread on the official forums entitled (
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=204233) Will My Computer Run Oblivion? A few of you may find it useful, as the author of the thread painstakingly rated various videocards and such.
