I use keyboard shortcuts for programs I use often. It's just faster than anything else.

I use Eyefinity for my desktop so I can have a continuous image. I dont remember where I got the image, I believe I google'd "5040x1050 wallpapers" or something like that. Which is my desktop resolution.

I wont embed the image here because it doesn't conform to forum rules.
The Taskbar is kind of annoying because the computer thinks it is one giant monitor, so the middle monitor section is never ever used. I don't put any programs on the taskbar, I just use it for programs I already have open. Instead I use Rocket Dock to launch my frequently used programs. That way I've got a launch bar at the top and a "currently running" bar at the bottom. Sometimes I set my taskbar to auto hide, especially if I'm running games in windowed mode.

Like if I want to have two instances of the same program open, I have to click on the quick launch link, which does nothing but launch the program, then drag the two big ass bars together so I'll have them grouped neatly next to each other. If I have a bunch of explorer windows, photoshop, and whatever else open, they're scattered across the taskbar in whatever order I've opened them. When things get busy, I'll have a bunch of similar looking bars I have to scan through to get what I want.
Not so. Windows 7 automatically groups windows of the same type, such that they're all next to each in the taskbar, regardless of what order you opened them in and what ever else you've got running.
I tend to find that Windows 7's way of showing you a mini-preview image of all the windows of that program to be more or less useless, because it's so small that it's difficult to distinguish between two different folders open in explorer. I find it much easier to just have that window's title displayed alongside it's icon in the taskbar.
But you're right, it is all subjective, so it's down to whatever saves you those precious seconds. I guess I was just surprised to see people whom I assume are fairly skilled with computers using the default setting, which I find to be slower and more frustrating.

Ahh. That helps a bit. I haven't used the default Windows taskbar in Win7, so I missed out on that.

By default, yeah. It is a little too small. But with a few tweaks, you can make the aero peek window as large as you want. Having a goodly sized preview window makes things alot easier to use.

I think it all depends on how you identify things. I'm more visually oriented, so I think things are easier to find and organize by colors and patterns. I'm like a damn raccoon or something. All this shiny crap drawing my attention. On the other hand, you might be more text oriented, and prefer looking for things by labels. So yeah, I guess it all depends on your preference for things.
...no. I take that back. I'm right and you're wrong.

You could give this a whirl: (

The program is called Switcher. It uses Aero to to give you a preview of your windows the same way OSX does. I find it quite streamlined. I bind my shortcut to Super-~ so its not one that is used by any default windows programs. and I also assign that to a Macro for my mouse. one click and it gives me as much space on the desktop as I have to preview my windows.

I've used Switcher. It'd be great if it didn't randomly quit responding for no apparent reason. As long as I stick to webpages and explorer windows, it works fine. But as soon as I fire up something resource intensive, it's hit or miss.
Shame, because it's the best Expose clone I've seen otherwise.

You don't want to see my desktop, but what I do do, and something you folk should try, is tweak my default folders so my 'home' folder and the desktop folder (and the Download folder for that matter) are one and the same.
