Alright, I get it! I'm not a mission author. I'll leave now.
Bye!

So basically you don't even know where the models come from, are not aware some are ripped from games and yet you upload them just like that? With no research at all? The nuclear sigil for the Duke Nukem throne didn't even tip you off? That's what I call a recipe for success.
Also, the fact that these sites haven't been closed already for copyright infringement doesn't mean that it will never happen. I don't want to see the repository get closed because you or anyone else uploaded assets under copyright. It's the repo's owner's call, but I certainly wouldn't accept uploads like that if I were the administrator.

I would suggest for anyone uploading models to the Object Repository that if you didn't actually make the object yourself or know for certain that the artist who did has released it to the public domain, that you don't upload it to the repository.
Let me be more clear. My opinion is that if you don't have the rights to the object, don't upload it. Don't assume it is in the public domain because you found it on the web someplace. Maybe now that the site is up and running and has most of the low poly objects that have been specifically released for Thief use, new additions should be limited to only those things that you yourself have modeled. Period. Full stop. I think that would shut down the importing of inappropriate objects.
And all of the identified copyright violations that have been uploaded should be deleted. We don't want the repository to be shut down because of this kind of indiscriminate uploading.

I must say, Cardia, at the risk to put oil on the fire, you have posted many objects as "Unknown Author".
There are no Unknown Author.
For exemple you have uploaded this object : (
http://spirited-tech.com/thief/2017/03/24/living-room-table/)
Credited as Unknown Author.
I am sorry Pal, but this one is not unknown at all. From one of your website you have mentionned, I checked a few second and I just found this:
(
http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/table-70255.html)
Same table, if you check the object zip, you can reconize the same texture in a different res.
But one difference, You can read : Created by "Gela Motskobili"
This is not because the original archive got no readme and the file is free you can submit it without mentionning the name or the real author.
Cardia, how many objects did you have converted like this without giving the appropriate credits?
I don't want you to think I am trolling, but I just can't believe my eyes when I see that some authors are not credited as they should have been.
This is not respectful to them so I want you to fix all your readme with Unknown Author mention, and give professional, respectful and legitimate credits to these Authors who are not parts of our community in the name of honnor and copyrights.
As modeler, If I see someone uploading my objects somewhere with Unknown as credit, I won't be happy at all!
Now the bad is done, fix these credits, and stop uploading an object without the appropriate credits. That is all I am asking.

Skaky I didn't even read what's written in the throne. i´m sure the site can't get problems.
Jordan, honestly if i created a ballon and my object would be used in some free mod i couldn't care less, there are things in life more important to be worried.
i´m sorry i´m not following your orders, its not your site, i´m not bothering myself finding credits i won't find.
If you gentlemen have issues with that please contact the site administer. If i´m contacted not to upload objects , then i´ll quit uploading objects including the ones (t2x/cosas3/firemage ladyJo) that Squadarofl gave me to
upload.
look its fine be me its less work.

I doubt there are many authors/creators out there who have that opinion. :P

That's it ? Throwing a tantrum like a child is your only response? Not only you disrespect H3H3 because he's not a mission author (what's this? Is TTLG an aristocracy?) but now you're OPENLY spitting on advice because it's "not their site"? You're embarrassing dude!
You know what ? Forget about uploading the objects, I'll do it myself; it's give and take since you'll have less work to do whatever you want, and we don't have to suffer to waddle through 6 gorillions of modern objects nobody will use to find something interesting.

If I remember correctly the Thief Object Repository was set up to host as many Thief objects as we could find into one place because so many Thief fan sites come and go. It wasn't set up to host objects harvested from all over the Internet. Cardia I can appreciate your enthusiasm, but if something is copyrighted or obtained directly or indirectly from a commercially released product then it shouldn't be uploaded. We don't want to jeopardize the TOR nor do we want other authors Thief or not Thief to download those types of objects and then unknowingly use them in their own fan missions. I'd have to agree with Larry on this one. If its your object or if you were given permission by an author to post his/her stuff then upload with your heart's content. The version of the table you posted looks like a derivative of the original posted at TF3DM. Have you contacted this author about posting a derivative of the original work? This TTLG community has survived many years because of the hard work and integrity members have put into keeping Thief alive. We should respectfully use the same integrity at other Thief related web sites. As you might know about how hard it can be to learn how to make objects, authors might want to protect their intellectual property and not appreciate their work being published or altered nilly willy without their permission. I'm sorry if it seem so many people here are upset or disappointed but this is something people generally frown upon.
