Chimpy - you don't want to know. The long and short is that from a purely utilitarian POV smoking is good for the NHS.
Brings up questions of how honest a policy of taxing "bad stuff" is if the state's in a position where it's better off with people continuing to do the bad stuff.

Big parts of Bournemouth beach are no-smoking in the summer months.
Although as the foreshore (between high and low tide) is crown land I wonder if local bye-laws apply?
Hmm, still, I stopped smoking tobacco 4 years ago after 22 years :D :D
And I'm back in Scotland in a couple of weeks which is getting v.draconian with smoking bans.

Yeah. Don't quote me on it though. I've no stats to back it up just a lot of talk from various NHS bods over the years.

I didn't know you were so wild Dia! :p
Actually, it's just plain old mule-headedness.
I've got this thing about people who think they have Serious Authority when they really don't.
'Sides; it's not a good idea to try to get in my way when I'm having a nicotine fit.
I can get a tad cranky.

I don't blame you, Dia. I'd have given that security guard shit too

Fuck smoking bans. All public spaces such as bars, pubs, restaurants, etc. should be forced to provide separated indoors areas for smokers and non-smokers. In fact, they should only be forced to provide areas for non-smokers, whether they choose to cater to smokers too should be up to the establishment's owner. And when I say separated I mean walls and doors.
Okay, so now that 3/4 of restaraunt and bar small businesses in North America have closed their doors, now what? Oh yeah, tax payer stimulus for more jobs on top of the tax payer money required for enforcement measures for your inane eutopia.
Also, Queue your map is a bit outdated. I know atleast Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey have indoor smoking bans.

However, it's sort of balanced by the fact that tobacco is very harmful and does absolutely fucking nothing for you bar satisfy the craving you've got for the nicotineand that tobacco companies have cultivated this very sexy image of smoking while trying to cover up any negative consequences.
Sounds like McDonalds

If it takes the governments of lots of different countries stepping in and banning it in public to help people quit and put and end to the industry then that's a means to an end I can live with.
Just like Cocaine right?

You mean our newly graveled roads?
They're a treat!
No, wait. I ride a motorcycle.
They're a deathtrap!
So are cigarettes, maybe we should just ban them :D
What kind of motorcycle? I have a shadow 600

What the fuck are you on about? What I'm suggesting is that, if the default is no smoking in bars, owners of said bars be allowed to create separate smoking areas payed for out of their own pocket.

wrong
This is what you said

Each of the 4 restaraunts/bars I worked at would be closed in a week if this this happened. In fact, both bars I worked at went out of business shortly after the indoor smoking ban passed in PA. Also one burned down during forecloser.... Oh the irony!
