McCain will win.
Not a preference, just an observation.
Willing to bet money on that?

Not quite yet, I'll admit. But if the circus continues after they pick a candidate, which as Scots said is certainly a risk, then yeah, no doubt.

Democrats will fall in line behind Obama once Hillary endorses him. She'll even make the short list for the VP slot, but it will only be for show.
McCain is going to prove to be a spectacularly weak candidate in the general election, and Republicans are going to have some serious buyer's remorse.
November is Obama's to lose. He does have some serious weaknesses, but luckily most of the ones focused on so far are either pure spin by camp Hillary or mirrored more spectacularly in McCain.
Also: ignore the spin, today is not going to make or break either candidacy. No matter who wins either state, the delegate split will wind up pretty even (Hillary's supposed blowout in Pennsylvania only resulted in her closing the delegate gap by twelve, which is a drop in the bucket compared to Obama's triple digit lead). Still, the easy money is on Obama taking North Carolina and Clinton taking Indiana, both by single digits.

I'm not saying it's the same situation
Damn straight it ain't. Ségolène Royal was an unreconstructed swivel-eyed socialist loon peddling the same tired old confrontational sub-Marxist bullshit that has gotten France into the state it's in now. Barack Obama offers something a bit more progressive and a whole lot more inclusive.

Stitch's (Valid) Point
I'm concerned that after all this Democrat bickering compared to McCain's no challenge nomination that the US election has lost the Fuck You Long Term Incumbent Landslide. The very thing that swept Rudd into power in Australia.
Also I really began to hate Clinton over this campaign. Obama deserves the presidency just for being the bigger ma-err..person.

May well be, but hey, after 12 month the results of Magic Sarko are exactly NIL.
Lots of noise and bullshit, and nothing follows. Between 2/3 and 3/4 of people are disappointed, half think a major crisis is around the corner, and half again doesn't want him to be a candidate in 2012.
Whoop-de-friggin-doo. It's a total wreck, he hates his PM because he's more popular than him... What a stellar achievement. If I had stayed in Fance I'd probably still be looking for a job.
That said, I agree that Obama is nowhere near the same as Segolene Royal.

McCain will win because he's really good at balancing both parties. It pisses off the more extreme ends, but the majority of Americans are moderate so I think he'll come out in the lead.
Then he'll suffer a heart attack from the stress and his VP will take over.
Dick Cheney 4 more years! :D
Aerothorn on 6/5/2008 at 17:52
Chance of Dick Cheney being the VP: 0.
His politics aside, people will want someone WITHOUT a heart condition to be #2.

Clinton and her team have no doubt made this same observation, which is why she has been banking on an 8-year stretch in '12.
No Naders necessary, this time around.
Stitch has a point about Mccain being a weak candidate, but in the end Republicans will support the guy with an r next to his name, lower case or not. Mccain couldn't get a second term if his life depended on it however, which is yet another observation Team-Clinton has no doubt allready made.
If Clinton squeeks through then look for Sarah Palin as Mccain's VP pick to satisfy the soccer moms. If Obama wins then maybe Huckabee to gain some christervative support.
