Obama FAILS to deliver peace to the world, REWARDED by Norwegian Nobel Committee - by Koki

I don't quite understand why they'd give it to him now, since the citation is given (by the article's description) for rather vague accomplishments like "giving hope". Its a bit out of character for the Nobel committee, and it would have made more sense to wait a year or two when he would almost certainly have more measurable accomplishments to his name.
As much as I hate to agree with Koki, the appearance is that they just gave it to him because he's black.

No, I don't think it's because he's black. I guess it's some sort of 'encouragement', and stating that all hope goes to Obama...

They didn't give it to him because he's black, they gave it to him for not being Bush.
"And, for his conspicuous achievements in the field of not being a Global Asswipe, The Nobel Comittee awards..."

I'm pretty sure it's because he's a magic black. That's really all it takes to impress the committee.
edit:
countdown to serious Republican bitching (as opposed to what there is so far) that peace prize is bullshit
how long before nobody brings up Roosevelt
or Dawes (coolidge's VP)
<s>or Hull (Roosevelt's Secretary of State)</s>
<s>or Marshall (Army Chief of Staff, Sec of State, originator of Marshall Plan under Roosevelt)</s>
or Henry Kissinger (international war criminal)
all with R in front of them
yeah
it's like that

So you sayin' it's an Affirmative Action Nobel, cracka?!?!
CCCToad on 9/10/2009 at 16:10
Its not all of the nobel peace prizes, just a lot of the political ones. The committee that put kissinger on there should have been fired.

As I already said in the other thread:
Obama may not personally deserve the NPP, but I wonder what it says when simply having rational and productive foreign policy goals is such a major improvement over your predecessor that it is deemed worthy of a prize.
This is about the Nobel committee repudiating Bush and twisting the knife more than anything. It's a stretch as far as personal achievement goes. It's perfectly rational as an international statement.
Anyone who helps keep Sarah Palin from high office merits at least one Nobel Peace Prize, if not more.
CCCToad on 9/10/2009 at 16:32
Apparently even the staffers didn't believe it:
From ABC's website:
Quote:
Two key White House aides were both convinced they were being punked when they heard the news, reported ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.
"It's not April 1, is it?" one said.
If not being Bush is enough to get a Nobel peace prize, then we all deserve one.
