I heard that the Republicans were more in favor of holding the olympics over here in Cohoctah, down on old Bob Miles's farm.
Google it and enjoy the poor taste.

That's because Atlanta is the equivalent of a mom and pop BBQ Pit without a liquor license. If I lived in Little Rock for 15 years and recognize what an utter cesspool Atlanta is compared to Chicago, I don't think I can help you. Also, when your state boasts a city like Stone Mountain, you pretty much don't get to criticize anyone else. KKK ftw, am i rite.
Show me where I said anything positive about Atlanta. What I said about them was pretty harsh.
Overall, American big cities suck pretty hard compared to European ones.
On a side note, Georgia = KKK isn't a valid argument. First, there's plenty of hate groups, both white and otherwise, around the US. That doesn't make them shitty places. Second, your argument is little more than a stereotype fallacy. If you've ever been in the south, you'd know that saying that all white southerners are racist illiterate hicks is like saying that all black people are sex crazed, watermelon loving kleptomaniacs.

What's the problem with the right doing to the left what the left would do in a second to the right?
It's just classic bullshit politics. Like one of the guests on the O'Reilly factor said (yes I am one of the 9 million;) ) : You Fox news folks are gonna rail Obama if he gets the olympics in chicago (claiming it was fixed otherwise he wouldn't have gone over) and you are gonna rail him if he doesn't get it (wasting time). It's a lose lose. People who get dragged down in this pointless political fire are doing exactly what those commentators on Fox want you to do, so STOP IT :D.

I'm speaking more specifically about Stone Mountain
From Wikipedia:
The second Ku Klux Klan was founded at Stone Mountain, Georgia, supplementing its original anti-black ideology with a new anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, Prohibitionist and anti-Semitic agenda. The bulk of the founders were from an Atlanta-area organization calling itself the Knights of Mary Phagan that had organized around Leo Frank's trial. The new organization emulated the fictionalized version of the Klan presented in The Birth of a Nation.
From the New Georgia Encyclopedia:
Even more than the birth of the second KKK, the Confederate memorial gave Stone Mountain notoriety throughout the twentieth century. A product of the Lost Cause era, the memorial was originally conceived as a symbol of the white South.
___________
Granted, they just elected their first black mayor, but I've visited Stone Mountain about six times in the last ten years (it's the regional center for the church I belonged to), three of those with a black friend. With very little exception, he was treated in a stereotypical way by the good white folks there. Anecdotal at best. Not saying "all southerners" are X - I live in Arkansas for godssake. I AM saying Stone Mountain has a very rich history of racism, corruption, hate killings, and poverty. I was mostly commenting on the fact that God could shit gold bars all over Atlanta and you'd still be hard pressed to find any lasting impact because the place is an abyss to begin with.

Of course, there's the little detail that the Olympics would have (
http://www.slate.com/id/2231173/) cost Chicago a bunch of money it didn't have.
Honestly, I don't understand why Obama took time out of his busy schedule to campaign for these things. Hostings the Olympics is for when you have money to burn, and last I checked, pretty much no where in the USA did.
You're engaging in the same basic economic fallacy to which that article is unfortunately giving credence, which can be summed up (and refuted) by boiling it down to "We don't have a lot of resources so we shouldn't spend what resources we have in an attempt to make more money later." It's the same basic misunderstanding that is driving the looney teabaggers.
That article never proves definitively that hosting the olympics loses money, just says that there are groups that are worried about it. At the end of the day, the host city lays out the money, but the benefits come back to the city as a whole through increased profits throughout the local economy, which aren't directly measured as a return on investment to the city, even though everyone benefits - so the numbers can be twisted to look like a "loss" to the city, even though the long term benefits are positive. It's the kind of thing that any economist can grok in a second, but the simpleminded tit-for-tat mindset that drives the opposition seems to miss it entirely.

It's this kind of ignorant paranoia that defines what's wrong with conservativism/republicanism/rightwingism in America today. The left doesn't nearly engage in this kind of shit on anything approaching the same scale. There was no hysterical left-wing noise machine braying about Bush's "failure" in procuring the NYC Olympics in 2012.
Toting up all the evidence, you could make a FAR stronger case that Bush's image as an evil dickweed--as seen by the rest of the world--had a negative impact on that Olympic bid and you STILL couldn't make the case with a straight face that it was his fault. When the left has the opportunity, and even a stronger case - they don't bother wasting everyone's time.
In spite of this, the ninnies in conservatard-land not only bitch about nonsense, they've convinced themselves that "Hey, it's ok because the other guys would do it to us too"
even when that claim is obviously and demonstratively wrong on its face. They don't let facts or reality get in the way. Post-modern conservative politics at its finest.
That's why they're a joke.
