Actually, while I do like All Things Considered, I was thinking of On Point, which is the best news talk show I've yet heard.
Nonetheless, your contributions to this thread are growing increasingly idiotic.

As a Brazilian that has already been to Rio, I can say one thing. Rio is kind of a big hype. (No, we don't have nude beaches, topless beaches or all that sort of thing. It is forbidden, actually. But that's not my point)
Rio doesn't has the infraestructure to hold the olympic games on Maracanã. We barely held the Pan-American games. I've been there during the Pan-American games and I can say that . Holding something bigger would cause more trouble than it's worth. You could barely find any food during the games because most of it was out of stock and using your car to go around the block could take up to half a hour because of the number of tourist cars on the streets.
And because Rio is also one of the world's most violent cities, we had a lot of trouble with the shanty towns.
Sincerely, if there five years and two months aren't used correctly, this will be a stain on Brazil for many years.

What a joke. I'm sure he'll win an Oscar too (and be equally worthy). :nono:

I like Obama and appreciate him as a person (great guy) and he's doing many things right, but I'm not entirely clear why he won the Nobel Peace Prize. I'm equally baffled that he was nominated only two weeks into his presidency before he had even done anything really of note.
I want the guy to succeed, but this does seem to cheapen the NPP... seems like a popularity contest more than a statement of merit.

It's completely ridiculous.
But then they gave Henry fucking Kissinger the Peace Prize as well, so it's not like lapses in judgment are anything new to the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel committee are a bunch of wankers. I hope Obama will yet achieve things on the world stage worthy of a Nobel peace prize, but this is ridiculous. Those fruitcakes only want him to come to Oslo so they may enjoy a minute in the spotlight with him. This is a great disservice to the repute of the prize, and to Obama as well.

Obama supporting and Obama ball gargling are two different things and mutually exclusive to me. Seems like the latter is going on here, I wish it was the former (i.e. winning the NPP for doing something as I'm sure he could... he's a sharp guy)

Obama may not personally deserve the NPP, but I wonder what it says when simply having rational and productive foreign policy goals is such a major improvement over your predecessor that it is deemed worthy of a prize.
This is about the Nobel committee repudiating Bush and twisting the knife more than anything. It's a stretch as far as personal achievement goes. It's perfectly rational as an international statement.
