I'm going on a very impromptu and spur of the moment trip to New York City from the 29th to the 3rd with my architecture thesis group (9 of us). It'll be my first time there! Though I am going to be mostly with my classmates (who I am, for once, actually good friends with) there's also going to be alot of free 'do what you need to do' time. Aside from visiting the Ghostbuster's Library (which I need to do, since my Thesis is on library design, and visiting the Ghostbuster's library has got to be some type of geeky pilgrimage) I'm going to have a pretty clean slate.
Any suggestions? Anyone around here live in NYC?
Best part will be cramming six adults into a "we don't allow more than four people" hotel room!

Take the Staten Island ferry for good pics of Liberty Statue, it's free. Brooklyn Bridge I think is a must. And don't miss the Chrysler Building :)
Washington Square Park was a favourite of mine.

Ah, the Big Apple...been a while...nice place to visit, mind the neck strain from looking high up at the skyscrapers half the time :).
Have some NY Cheesecake and some sandwiches at the local delies in my honor, plz.

Saw a thing on the news yesterday about an art exhibit that looks like a giant old-fashioned telescope buried in the ground. It's got a video link to another one in London so you can look "into" it and see what's happening on the other side of the Atlantic.
Don't know where it is, though. (It was BBC news and they only showed the London side.) Somewhere in view of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Also, you can go to Battery Park and recreate Deus Ex.
