I've just installed the latest Nvidia driver update for my FX5900, version 56.54 and got a massive performance increase. Performance has gone from about 30 fps average (1024x768 everything on high, 4x multisampling) to about 50-60fps indoors and about 35fps in the bigger outdoor areas such a Liberty Island. I've not noticed any quality decrease.
Just a heads up that there are new drivers out and they rock. :thumb:

Reason enough! I'd been flyin' something fr the 2x era for soooooo long. Should have done this long ago but had no compelling reason to do so. Really like the new 'Application Profile' settings thingy - worth an update in itself, IMHO.

Is there still the problem with the Dark engine stuff that was going on with the 53.03 driver set. I havent updated my driver for ages because of that crap

No hoohoo here. That is to say, 56.64 is (so far anyway) making nicenice w/SS2, T:TDP & DE:1 (whatever), all Dark Engine games, no? Of course, drivers are always a crap shoot & ymmv. GL!
+ a built in pop-up stopper! too cool! (

(unloads Panicware, cuz it really works)
