So I just read the storyline:
(

A yeah. Garrett was an orphan. He escaped the orphanage. No parents. No home... So far, so good.
Then how did he grow up to become a master thiaf? Well, he taught himself on his own :)
Lol? No. Lorelol.
Why? Well, we have no Keepers.
And we even haven't started talkin about the lack of Hammerites and Mechanies.
So far, lorelol.

The quality of the prose in these press releases is generally bad. Got a very fan-fiction, non-pro feel to it. Not a good sign?

Nah. Actually, I don't believe it's press fault. It seems that they lack a team of good writers.
The storyline is going to suck, people...
So far, I haven't seen anything good lore-wise. Nothing original.
The city is being ruled by a Baron, who is a dictator? Yawn. I should better play Allods Online if I want such storyline, at least the Empire as a faction in this game is better than the Graven.
Nothing, nothing exciting so far...
Maybe I should rethink my attitude to TDM, at least it has Builders...

It doesn't mention the Keepers, that doesn't mean they didn't teach him.

They already said it's a reinvention. No Keepers, No Mechanists, No Hammerites.
I'm probably going to try the game, but hm... I guess it will be the biggest gaming disappointment of my life. Excluding we haven't seen HL2 Episode 3. Even Blizzard pleassantly surprised me with Pandaria...

There are Keeper statues in the game.
Isn't this new release like a Wanted notice as police intel? Why would they know about the Keepers. The point of the Keepers is to act unseen, no?

You now find yourself on a path of discovery...The Virtual World design and mechanics will prove to be as great of a defeat as the player mechanics...It is only a matter of time before your mind begins to accept and understand.

Vae, can you talk normally for once? You sound like a press release for Thief.

You really do not want what you ask for.
It would serve you well to finally wise up, Vivian...As if what I say would be a "press release for Thief"...:laff:

I, personally, think that the new game is damaging to the old ones. The very fact that I have to write each time "classic" or "new" to show what I mean shows how closely the new entry in the series affects the old ones. The name that was chosen for the reboot also doesn't help - it explicitly shows that the devs want to erase, to overshadow the past, not to show their respect tot the series on the success of which they build.
This exactly express my feelings about the matter. (bold added by me) I abandoned all hope about this "Thief". I just don't care anymore.
