Ahem. :bored:
I just finished DX1 for the first time and now I would like to replay it with some sadistic nerfs to forces me play more stealthy, by avoiding firefights. Not like I've done by killing everyone in each level - albeit
stealthy. Hence I am making this little parameter-changing modification on Shifter, akin to Shifter Plus but
way simpler.
Quote:
- Untrained weapons are useless.
- Skills have been nerfed one level backwards: i.e. now Master does what Advanced used to.
- You can only have one armor of each kind in your inventory.
- Ammo caps reduced to: 3 clips for bullets, 2 clips for the iLaw, 1 clip for the napalm. Melee and throwing weapons are default.
- Inventory size 5x3.
- Some augs have been nerfed for their level progression to be linear: i.e. an augmentation's progress bonus which was +10+20+50+100, is now +10+20+30+40. Nerfed augs: Aqualung, Electrostatic Discharge, Power Recirculator, Regeneration.
- Buff to Spy Drone energy consumption rate (AH!).
I would also like to put skill level caps on weapons, but I don't know how yet.

If its possible try to mod the AI so that NPC's notice when their comrades die next to them.
The_Raven on 9/1/2008 at 16:27
Believe it or not, that is already part of the AI system. I've seen it happen before. It is quite rare to witness it, however.

I wonder what would happen if all weapons were 100X louder. A whole level of bad guys chasing you a la Benny Hill?
The_Raven on 9/1/2008 at 19:16
Isn't the game already like that?
Zechs Zero on 9/1/2008 at 19:29
Hummm... no? :weird: You don't get the whole level after you after a shot.
edit
Hey, any idea how to implement skill requirements for weapons? Basically, I would like to have the Dragon Tooth sword require Low Tech 4.
edit
zing! I remembered something similar happens, after all, when you can't hack something without Computer lvl 1. Maybe maybe...
Zechs Zero on 10/1/2008 at 22:46
The masochism goes on!
- Hacking completely disabled, skill level 1 costs one million points
- Untrained skills make you unable to use medikits, suits, lockpicks, multitools, and to swim
- Dragon Tooth sword completely ineffective without skill level 4
And now I'm thinking about this:
- Killing or KOing enemies in non stealthy ways equals -10 skill points
- Sounding alarms equal -100 skill points

I always associated hacking with stealth tactics.

Well, it's to make the (necessary) data hunt harder.

You can still use multitools, but the hacking in Deus Ex basically allows you to
bypass stealth because you can avoid gathering passwords and necessary data.
