I got sort of persuaded to try Destiny 2 while it was free, so I've been playing that on and off the last ~2 weeks. I have been meaning to try out a shooter again, so I thought "why the hell not, it's free" and I promised to at least finish the single player campaign, although now I'm sort of getting invested in the grind. Much of my progress probably comes down to character skill more than player skill, though: I haven't played a shooter in 10 years, so I don't expect to be the best at it, but still I have managed to get as far as I have.
It started out fully linear, but now that I've gotten a little further into it, sidequests keep being unlocked plus secret areas and many multiplayer events (which I have mostly avoided so far, because I want to learn more about the game before participating in those), so not so linear any more. Also lootboxes, which I know some oppose, although I haven't seen any of the "pay to win" stuff that seems to be the main gripe people have about them. The different environments are fantastic -- not that I expected anything less, but they are, and would fit perfectly in a game based more on calm exploration and puzzle solving (which is what I usually play).
The whole shooter experience leaves me a little ambivalent: I do get reminded why I stopped playing them, but I can't deny it can be exciting to be right in the middle of things (and blowing them up), and there can be more to it than just shooting, even if Destiny is maybe not the best example of that (I wouldn't call it a "thinking man's shooter" (or whatever the term is)), but there is sometimes a bit of a puzzle element to things -- a bit. It's still a shooter, though, so that is what you do.
All in all it's an interesting experience, like an excursion into long forgotten territory. I have probably been guilty of a few "noob" mistakes, but that is part of it all. As I was starting out, I was worried about the multiplayer aspect and the risk of maybe spoiling it for others, but I'm letting those worries go more and more now.
Am I going to play more shooters in the future? It will be nice to get back to what I usually play, but I can't rule it out. I might try Scorn (because not a pure shooter as it seems) and maybe Witchfire (I got so disappointed about the teaser trailer for it (when it turned out to not be what Ethan Carter was), so I might play it just as a way of challenging and spiting myself).

Having a great time with Dark Souls 3 - From really knows how to make cool (and scary) environments to explore. I'm a little disappointed how bad the framerate has been in a few areas on a PS4 Pro, but it's not that often so no big deal. I really dig playing as a Sorcerer and killing shit from afar, it's kind of a whole new game as far as strategy goes now.
Someday I will tackle Bloodborne, but I don't think it'll be quite the same feeling for some reason. Kinda sad that this will be my last "new" DS experience, there's nothing quite like it.

I've got DS1 on my PS3. I just haven't got into it. I know I should but it seems like such an effort.
Anyway, after the nausea inducing disappointment that was the start of Wolfenstein: The New Order (disappointing that it makes me nauseated, not disappointment at the game) I decided to get Bastion and Transistor. Both seem quite cool but they do have the same voiceover which is a bit odd for now. I'm not sure I like the slow reveal method being in both games. Is Pyre different?
I really like the art in these, and the gameplay in both seems fun, so far.

Nameless Voice very kindly got me "Life goes on" and it's my puzzle game of 2018 after Obra Dinn. The basic premise is that you're in a quest for the equivalent of the holy grail and your job is to make sure that a knight can navigate the level to reach the likely cup. The twist is that you need to clear a path over deadly obstacles by sacrificing your knights. Fortunately you can be reincarnated any number of times and you never run out of knights willing to sacrifice them to the cause.

Picked up a few oldies and newies during the sale...
Into the Breach - very clever with alluring style, but hasn't quite grabbed me like FTL in the "one more turn..." way
Bayonetta - love the whole style, acting, campiness, over-sexualizaton, etc. I'm not into these kinda beat-em-up-whatever-you-call-ems, so it could be just me, but it feels a little too button-mashy
Jade Empire - after an hour dicking with configs to actually get it to run without stuttering, I am... uncertain. So far it feels like a very white-washed "Western version of the West." and clunky as fuck. The game apparently released on the Xbox, but there is no controller key for switching targets during combat? Huh???
Death's Gambit - literally Dark Souls in 2D. I've never got into DS. This is... more enjoyable, but I'm still skeptical.
Tropico Pirate's Cove - crash on game start, GG old games

Playing some more Invisible Inc. as a sort of comfort food. I finally managed to get the Never Look Back achievement (no rewinds/basically ironman mode). Now I'm trying Time Attack, where you only get 2 minutes per turn. It's... Not going well. I'm still flying, but I've already had two agents get shot (and subsequently rescued), and it's only Day 2. I'm thinking of carrying MedGel as standard for a change. Also, I need to somehow get it back into my skull that I can use 1 rewind per level again.

It's a deliberately different game, albeit with some similar mechanics (blood vials = estus flasks; lantern = bonfire; summoning bell ~= summon signs). As a game I would put it on par with the first Dark Souls and ahead of its 2 sequels, so definitely worth exploring to see if it appeals to you. I actually enjoyed it much more on my second playthrough (a fresh NG) though.

"Spectacle fighters". That goes double for Bayonetta as she's a bespectacled spectacle fighter. Anyway, I don't like them either and I also share your opinion on Into The Breach. I enjoyed Jade Empire back in the day, but wouldn't really expect it to hold up today.

Yeh I'm on the same page with Into the Breach, very well designed game and put a dozen or so hours into it, but it just doesnt have that "x" factor like FTL did.
