Yeah Little Nightmares definitely felt like a Limbo/Inside knock-off, but it does have some cool/creepy sequences later on. Well worth the trip.

Just finished Wolf II. I think the main goal was to top everything in the previous game. Cutscenes feel nervous and desperate to fit all the comedy and the drama in those precious 20-second time windows, where every serious bit has to be disrupted by a quick gag. It gets really ridiculous towards the end, more on the facepalm side than "wow, this is stupidly awesome". But the gameplay is okay, I think controls were more tight in the first game, and stealth here is mostly broken, guns blazing is more fun. I like the first one better, and I hope this was not meant to be a trilogy or seasonal thing, it is getting tired already.
I am also playing this and got distracted just playing the entirety of wolf3d on the arcade machine instead, which i guess says a lot about new colossus lol. But seriously wolf3d really holds up. The level design in episode 4 is bloody fantastic - they really made the best of their limitations at the time. Episode 6 is kind of infuriating though.
As for new colossus, i like that they designed all the levels with the ability to be stealthed more like old blood, but it's really too difficult to do most of the time since once the alarm comes on that's that. It's an infuriating design choice.
I'm up to new orleans and it doesnt feel like there is a real plot driving it forwards yet. It feels more like a disconnected series of missions, which is a bit disappointing after the original.

Vermintide 2 is on a free play weekend on Steam. So I fired it up.
Meh.
Really.
I don't game much these days but this can't be what's getting traction, can it? I did the tut and then went online with 3 other peeps (randoms).
It's dull as dishwater imho. I'd rather go back and play Dark Messiah.

Really? Differing tastes, I suppose.
I think Vermintide and its sequel are some of the best games to come out recently, I have nearly 300 hours clocked on VT2 (though I've mostly burned out on it now, in part because it's still rather buggy), and had ~250 on VT1.
I was actually thinking of making a thread about how good it is, how enjoyable the combat feels, how great the level design and architecture are... but I was too lazy and the bugs put me off.
They did just fix a lot of bugs a few days ago, but I haven't played much since.
Comparing it to Dark Messiah is unfair - that game is awesome, and one of my favourite games, to boot - but I'd say Vermintide has the best first-person combat since Dark Messiah.

I think Dark Messiah is the gold standard though, and it's really old. If you're not matching it you're out of date.
I like the idea, of course, which is why I tried VT2.
I've started Batman Arkham City again, as I never finished it. TBH I just want more like this, or The Last of Us. Games with a simple core mechanic that gets more complex and with exploration. When I get a PS4Pro I think I've got to try the Uncharted games. And one of the recent Tomb Raiders.

Does
anything match it? Heaven knows Arkane's own subsequent offerings went in a different direction.

Well that's just it. I don't get why it's mechanic has not been emulated and/or updated.
I think I'm going to play Dishonored 2 after all.

It's my birthday and I'll TRUCK if I want to!
Haven't played ATS in a while, but Thirith got me the New Mexico DLC as a present, so I knew it was time to get back on the road! :D
Here's my first trip into the new state. I picked up my current playthrough in Bakersfield, made a delivery down to Yuma, and then another one to Albuquerque.

Don't ask me what the cargo was. I can neither confirm nor deny that it was a batch of chemicals for someone named Heisenberg. My job ain't to stick my nose where it don't belong, but to tune it to Heartland Radio and keep on truckin! Yeee-haw!

That's a lot of well-rendered nothing. Yet somehow also not nearly enough nothing.

I still think Henke's missing his true calling.
