All in all, flags are meaningless instruments of identifying nations. This overly romantic shit goverments build around these objects is just to keep the people happy.
If they're so meaningless, then why do people burn them in protest?

Posting that stupid, simplistic shit makes my head explode, if not yours. Please stop.

So what gives us the right to interfere with another sovereign nation? One that didn't attack us?
We didn't really give them much choice in the matter.

I'm telling you, these people are a bunch of communists. They would like to see our treasured way of life destroyed and replaced with a socialist society which doesn't value human life or personal property. They are getting their way, slowly, through the so-called Democratic Party, which in the past 40 years has been all but taken over by militant feminazis, marxists, environmental extremists, and every other anti-freedom, anti-capitalist wacko movement out there.
Commies! Nazis! Spies! Terrorists! Oh god, they're everywhere!
I imagine that by this point, they're burning flags just to see you guys go apeshit. It's got to be hilarious to see firsthand.

Hitler didn't attack us, either.

Nope, but the Japanese did. The great US of A wouldn't have gotten involved in World War 2 otherwise. They wanted to be left alone, and let Europe solve its own problems.

Against my better judgement . . . justin1001 - does it occur to you (as has been said already) that your views might be considered as extreme as those of the countries that your country goes to war against. Perhaps I shouldn't be, but I am more afraid of what your country might do than pretty much any other country. And purely because of the views you express. And because I know you're not alone.

But you, like British imperialists before you failed to appreciate, is that it's freedom on your terms. It's your idea of freedom, it's what you think is right for everyone else. Not whether it's really right for another country, but what you think is right. And I believe that it's these extreme views that cause such hatred of the US. And no, I don't mean by me. But if you try to impose your will on others, against their will, then you will get extreme reaction.
It used to be Britain but now it's the US that is villified. Do
you ever stop to wonder why?

Ok, so why would they protest against freedom from tyranny and oppression? Against individual religious liberty? That's what the flag represents to people around the globe who have been given their freedom by American men who fought and died for it.

To be fair, the USofA was very much involved and supportive of the UK, France, Russia and allies pre pearl harbour, just not with direct military action.
The way I see it is flag burning isn't a statement of hatred for the nation, rather that welcome values that certain people feel are inherent with their view of said nation are being errorded, neglected, subverted, damaged or held in similar low regard and flag burning is a reflective thing. It is to say that whatever powers that be that are angering the Berkley Protestees are rubbishing the values that they think are what makes the USofA a good usofa. Did that make sense?

I'd like you to give some examples of these militant feminazis, marxists, and environmental extremists. The Democrats seem to be roughly centrist on most issues.
