Not expecting this to be an easy fix... - by Solarjetman

Success.
Got a new mobo yesterday, the p5n-d as mentioned.
Booted up fine with P4 3.0GHz chip (old duo fried). Used a Freezer 7 Pro from arctic cooling just for extra temp stability.
No problems since start up - bar one:
Front panel audio has a problem. Headphones work fine but mic keeps being repeated detected.
Thought it was a connector but seems to be a problem with realtek audio driver (all of them, even the newest) and Vista x64.
Anyway, fix was simple, change bios settings for front panel from 'HD audio' to 'AC97'. This is a workaround however, as now headphones and speakers are permanently on together (easy to turn speakers off).
Well that was a fun trip.
Bikerdude: Planning on sending back mobo for replacement to sell. Lesson in RMA's always give full information. They only tested to bios not to working OS.
Thanks for the help
