@Daxim: Sure it was possible before, but to make a technology useful it also needs to be accessible and that is where node is winning.
@aerothorn: I understand the reasons quite well, I just prioritize them differently. Facebook sure can be fun, but I'm not giving up on informational self-determination for that little fun. Much like I wouldn't sell my kids for candy.

@PigLick: @PigLick: @PigLick: If you'd remove the forums from TTLG and communication would only happen through "visitor messages" you'd have the same effect here. Things would be a lot more intimate, friendlier, obliging. No one would even bother to read Tarantula's message wall, just to tell him he's wrong. He and everyone would just wallow in their little bubbles, surrounded by yaysayers, happy in our little digital comfort zone.
I am completely aware that in all the endless discussions we had no one ever said: Oh, you're right and I was wrong, you convinced me. And that may have made it all seem very tedious or just pointless to discuss with strangers on the internet. But these changes did happen nevertheless. Even if it seemed that people were just trying to get the upper hand by any means possible, I am absolutely certain that opinions of hundreds of people were formed and influenced here. I know mine were. And I know the fact that people even bothered to put up with me, to disagree with my opinions, was a large part of what made me reconsider silently. How is any of that supposed to happen on a platform such as Facebook?
I don't think forums are a perfect platform by far. But the basic communication principle that forces you to come out of your little bubble and speak up or shut up is a lot better.

whats astonishing is how shit facebook is compared to actually learning stuff that people write about what they know.
But on facebook you can just say some shit and no one is gonna call you out on it.
so yeh
You're clearly not friends with me on FB ;)
PigLick on 12/3/2015 at 11:39
well to be honest, you are on of the few people who actually post stuff on FB that is remotely like the old ttlg, so thanks. I mean that I really like what you have to say about games and media.

Hi Muzzy! (long time no chat) :cheeky:Quote Posted by Medlar
IRC chat is still there
irc.starchat.net
#thief
It's pretty quiet but it's always there for a chat.
Is #hanse still around on IRC? I know that was an alternate (and IIRC, more populated) channel for Nuthausers.
