I am truly amazed at how many hours of gamplay Oblivion offers, yet every quest is different. Far to often a game with great elements and originality is ruined by repetetivness. Not in Oblivion. I have not yet come across 2 quests that are the same yet different characters and locations. Sure there are some formulas, such as rescue someone from a cave because they've been missing for a few days, but even these arn't exactly the same. Most have unexpected twists and deep plot lines. It must have taken ages to write and plan every single storyline for each quest.
Has anyone noticed this? How every quest keeps you enthralled? The only quest I did because I felt like I needed to and not want to was the vampirism cure quest, basicly because it was an unwanted predicament at the time.
I thought i'd post a positive quality of Oblivion as there seems to be alot of "nit-picking" going on lately (Not just on this forum, but generally)

I have to agree. The base game has a HUGE amount of quests/writing/voice acting, and all of it is pretty well done. One of my favorite things are the little "funny" quests. Once I found like lady who lost her prized
jumbo potatos that she loves like children! She said she saw something big running off in the forest but was too scared to go after it, so I was able to eventually recover he potatos and she was happy, quest complete!
Where is she? I've been carrying these damned
Jumbo Potatoes
around almost since the beginning of the game.

I don't have the map in front of me, but it's an inn north of Bravil IIRC, along the road, on the west side of the river, on the west side of the road.

I believe it's at the Faregyl (sp?) Inn, it's just a little west of the Inn of Ill Omen. Follow the roads!

If we're talking about original and fun quests, I don't think that the 'Paranoia' one in Skingrad can be beat. The Dark Brotherhood quests are great too. Oblivion's quests are just far better than the majority of Morrowind's :D

Christ, I was just about to back up your Paranoia opinion w/some HILARIOUS screenies I captured from that mission.....until I remembered that I reformatted my PC and lost all that stuff. :( fekkin' windows.....

The mission where youi rescue someone from their own mind (dream / nightmare) is great.
Also, the on where you rescue someone from an enchanted painting.
Simple concepts that added a great deal of interesting variety to the game.
Also, I love the way that the mages guild quests are part of a story rather than just increasingly difficult odd-jobs.
After all, there is always the Fighters Guild for that.

So far my favorite quest was the Sheogorath shrine quest. Completing it taught me that:
1) Sheogorath is a complete loon. But we already knew that.
2) Sheogorath can dish out the irony.
3) Sheogorath makes vile non-verbal puns. I like that in a deity-like being.
Sanguine's quest was funny too.

I did a quest to get some chicks crystal ball in a boat. I ran through and got the crystal ball, gave it to her, but then the monsters that were following me came out and killed everyone around. SO I figured hell why not and looted the bodies. Well I happened to loot the crystal ball and the damn game won't let me drop it. I've got a permanent travelling companion!
