non-lethal vs. UNATCO

I'm new to this forum and to DX. But I've been reading about the non-lethal approach, and that's how I like to play Thief. My problem is: how to escape the warehouse after sending the distress signal. The army fellas come from all over and I've had little luck escaping without killing a few. I tried speed, running down the stairs and with ballistic protection. But not much luck. Any help would be.....helpful

Snipe them, throw gas grenades or shoot the explosive barrels. Or alternitavely hop over the wall at the top :cheeky:

I usually just jump down to the alley and apply a medkit on the way. The lone guard there is knocked out before. :cheeky:

You see there is a difference between you and I. If you'd have used your grey matter you'd have sussed the conspiracy ages ago (like me :D ), therefore killing the millions of guards around the building on your way up, i mean why would there be so many guards if they weren't gonna do anything? WHY? TELL ME WHY?!?!

See I'm just telling you what i would do NOW, seeing as you didnt kill them on your way up and Im soooooooooo soooooooo soooooooorrryy, that my help was not good enough, besdies the last time i completed the game i found using the barrells pretty goddamn fun, AND YOU CAN ALWAYS HOP OVER THE WALL!

Perhaps you didn't talk to the UNATCO troopers in the med lab with Jamie. Perhaps you didn't listen to what Sam Carter says about the UNATCO troops. Perhaps you didn't read any of the books and notices laying around UNATOC HQ. Unlike the MJ12 troops, most of the UNATCO troopers sincerely believe they are working for a righteous and noble cause. Only a few in UNATCO (Manderley and Navarre) are aware of or involved in the conspiracy. Shame on you. ;)
