So, I've been reading about doing the whole game non-lethally. My questions are as follows:
-How do you take care of the terrorists on the subway? (obviously I didn't make it very far without gettin ugly)
-Do you get to kill ANY one?
Slightly unrelated:is it easy to do it all stealthy, too (I love the GEP gun a little too much for that I think...)
Just wondering, as the idea intrigued me - I play Thief that way, too. Except non humans; then it's all manners of destruction. HATE them all!!!
I ran through the whole game on realistic once before, and killed as needed, but this new idea will have me replaying for months (And believe me, playing on realistic got me REALLY used to it - nothing like the one-hit-to-the-head-wonder club)
Anyway, thanks to you all, I've realised the infinite replayability of the game and bought it (I borrowed it the first time), much to my wife's chagrin.

My observations on nonlethal:
* You make less noise crouching and walking (as opposed to standing and running).
* The baton works only if you sneak up from behind (best aimed at about the shoulder blades in my experience).
* The riot prod works best if you sneak up from behind, but it will still take down an alerted enemy with several shocks.
* Tranq darts work best if you have a place to hide while the drugs take effect. Using tranq darts is the easiest nonlethal way to handle the subway.
You might also want to check out the (
http://arcanex.0catch.com/DXThieveryMutator.zip) Deus Ex Thievery Mutator -- it makes you less visible in low light and gives you a visibility gem to boot. I haven't actually tried this one myself -- just downloaded it this morning.

IMHO DX is most fun played moderately nonlethally.

Emerge when they have their backs turned and escape with the hostages in the subway. Easiest way by far that I know, lethal or not.

gbayles: Thanks for the tip. I tried it after I wrote the post, and it worked. I was gonna post another one asking about the avoidance policy; except you don't get to loot bodies. But then again, there's not much you can get off dead guys that are nonlethal...
