OK ridicule then, it just felt like an ad hominem attack.
I believe one phrase was "pogoing around the level like a demented jack in the box" when it was pointed out that the ability to jump being contextual took control away from the player.

Look, NuGarrett performs (or did in an early build) different kinds of leap depending on the context of the environment about him.
It's not a civil liberties issue. It's not (obviously) terrible design. It doesn't (obviously) take control away from the player any more than it gives NuGarrett & the player a greater range of movements given the confines of only having a handful of fingers - half of which should be clutching a mouse.
It's not a big deal.
Unless you want to pogo. Which obviously you don't.
It wasn't ridicule. It was putting a perceived problem into perspective, perhaps clumsily.

That was one twit, likely biskit or thiefessa/Viktoria
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the way to deal with people being absolutely idiotic is to be exactly the same back.
There is no point in being rational at all, ever, is there? No.

It's this high level of intellectual discourse that makes EM desperate to seek our opinions.
They're obviously listening:
-No more XP
-3rd person climbing sequences - gone
-QTEs - history

Imagine how much attention we would have got if it had ALL be coherent.

QTEs are history? That one is news to me. Good news, mind you.

Do you really think EM are incapable of reading an Internet forum without putting anything into perspective?
Only I remember (after a little episode where someone stomped over to EM, stamped their feet really really hard and told them that no one from TTLG will buy their game now because jumping took their freedom away) Adam coming over here and being pretty understanding and reconciliatory and remarking about how people are worked up because they care and are emotionally invested in the game and we should try and be understanding and maybe a little forgiving of each other. Something like that anyway.
And the comparison to bunny hopping quantified the problem. It was a rational response. That was the problem with it. The objections were an emotional response to a feature.

I don't think it's very clear what's happening there. Seems that there's squabbling about what the definition of a Quick Time Event is, how many button presses it requires, and whether Thief has any.
So when people first glimpsed the burning bridge section of the game demoed at E3 and elsewhere, a lot of people reported that it was heavily scripted and was chock full of QTEs. But Eidos Montreal's take is that it isn't. That the bits that appear as though scripted QTEs (like pushing obstructions out of the way) are really just contextual movements, rather than a pre-programmed mini-game where you're invited to mash button 'B' to push the obstruction out of the way.

Do you think they have time to trawl through all the dross to get to the gold?

So I'm not being rational ?
OK fine
