No webspinner reward???

So I've finally found the last of the 26 threads of the webspinner, aside from the 1 that Hlaalu already holds....I give him the last sanguine item and......nothing happens.

Is something wrong? How do I get my reward?

I double and triple checked, and I have retrieved and turned in all 26 sanguine items; Hlaalu even tells me so when I ask him about Sanguine Enterprise.

Is this a bug? If so its an EXTREMELY annoying bug after all the time I spent getting all those items.

Any help would be appreciated.

You get a spell ("Mephala's Skill") that in and of itself is pretty dinky... BUT, as one of its components is 'fortify attack' you can now do spellcrafting/enchanting and rig up an insanely large bonus to your attack skill.

The real prize from that spell is with the prepatched PC version (and iirc also on X-Box) : Fortify Skill.

With some creative abuse it allows for you to rip a merchant of all his stuff, pay next to nothing for enchantments or easily make constant enchantments yourself, fix any item with one or two strokes from a hammer regardless of current condition or put anyone at 100/100 disposition with a few words.

Thanks but that doesn't really answer my question, i.e. how do I GET the reward?

I gave Hlaalu all the sanguine items and after giving him the last one, nothing happened, he didnt say anything special. And now that I know what the reward is, I did check my spell list and it isn't there.

Is there something else I have to do to get the spell?
Has anyone else had this problem?

You should have recieved the spell when he accepted the last item, iirc it doesn't say anything special. Try checking your spell list.

Waitasec... you gave him the last one? So you gave him a total of, what, 26 sanguine items? Or did you just give him the ones he sent you out for?

Yep, that's what I'm saying...I gave him all 26 of them

And, believe me, I double and triple checked this....I gave him ALL of them,
and I have no new spell in my spellbook...

Haven't heard of this problem before?

Btw, I'm playing the xbox version, for what that's worth.

When I ask him now about "Sanguine Enterprise" he says "You have returned all the threads of the webspinner."

Is there some other topic I need to talk to him about?

Should I automatically get the reward? Or perhaps do I need to be above/below a certain rank? I am a master in the morag tong.

I heard that the reward was nerfed in the patch, and if that is the case, I am highly disappointed.

Pike: Sounds like a bug to me; when you give him the last one, no matter which it is, he should give you a flowery speech that boils down to to "that's the last the last thread of the webspinner, and now you have a special blessing from Mephala". While I don't believe rank matters, I was an Elevated Master (Enlightened Master? E-something Master) when I gave him the last one.

Skronk: The patch apparently changes it from a 'fortify skill'-based spell to a 'fortify attack' spell (news to me; thanks, WingedKagouti).

Zaphod: The quest's a Morag Tong one; the Morag Tong's GrandMaster's name is just Eno Hlaalu.
