No shadows in Thief 1 & 2. Need help please.

No,hardware mode.Thief gold runs okay with hardware off,as soon as I run it with hardware same problem.Of course with ss2- no software option :(

Ok, can you or have you done the following..

uninstall the gfx driver then
reboot and then reinstall the driver
then reinstall directx

Thanks for the advice.Good news is nasty file remover found a bunch of junk in my system folder :) .Bad news is it didn't fix the problem,so it's back to the drawing board :erg: .I'm seriously contemplating cobbling together a windows 98 rig just for ss and thief (possibly original worms lol) if I can't get this sorted.
Any other suggestions gratefully received.
