The TV show has very high production values, but the scripts never really worked well enough for me to watch it with any regularity, as they tended to be something like:
Code:
10 Awkwardly paced/delivered racism joke
20 Goto 10
The few non-racism jokes were usually pretty clever, though.
Never read the strip, so I don't know how it compares.
Sometimes you can catch it on the (

I liked the strip a fair bit when I first read it, but it's simply repetitive. It's unfair to draw comparisons between Aaron and Trudeau - maybe Trudeau in his first years of comicing, but not now. Doonesbury covers all the bases, due to having probably the largest cast and most storied history of any currently running comic. It does political, social, sports, everything. Boondocks did A) Race, B) Generation Gaps, and C)...uh....okay, I'm blanking here. Now, Boondocks did those well, but you can only do so many 'grumpy old grandpa' and 'stupid white people' strips before it stops being funny.
That said, I will never forget that 'Senor Jar Jar Binks' strip.

Trudeau also draws his own strip, so there's that.

I never liked Boondocks. Jump Start is also written by a black cartoonist who is clearly proud of his heritage, but the comic isn't exclusionary like Boondocks. Every time I've read it I got a 'this isn't for you, Whitey ' hum off it.
