As much as people in the modding community tend to dislike the game, why would they care if they can't release mods for it?

As expected...This will of course eliminate any chance of longevity for NuThief.
And that might be a good thing in the end.

Is that a difficult thing to admit? The best FMs are pure awesome, and just as good as the original games, IMHO.
A lot of FM's have surpassed the original games in my opinion. THe Rocksbourg series, Calendra, Mirror of Return, Ruins or Originia, Broken Triad...way too many to mention at this point

WTF?
King's Story, Dracula Reloaded/Bathory, and similar FMs -- beautiful maps, absolute garbage gameplay, due to a habit among FM modders around that region of making their FMs stupid hard and almost nonsensical.

There are many authors from Central (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, Austria) and Eastern Europe.
Why on earth are some of our missions "nonsensical"? Are e.g.
Old Comrades, Old Debts or Timon's or Judith's or Melan's (he's Hungarian, right?) or Eshaktaar (he's from Switzerland, right?) FMs "stupid hard" or "nonsensical"?
Some of these missions are very high on (
http://thiefmissions.com/search.cgi?search=%2Brated&sort=rating#m) this list.
Seriously, WTF?

Some of us like long challenging missions we can play for hours. Challenge is fun

That list means nothing as the Editor's Guild is something of a self-congratulatory circlejerk.
I'll admit I was being hyperbolic, but there's a certain trend among FM authors these days to have FMs that come off feeling like pixel-hunt adventure games, on top of issues like forced ghosting and other gameplay restrictions that just don't feel very Thiefy at all.
Azaran, challenge is fun. "WTF do I do now" is not fun -- and Dracula Reloaded ground to a halt on the 2nd map because of it. Several other FMs I've played have problems like this, and for whatever reason they get praised to the heavens. If I can't figure out wtf I'm supposed to do in 5 minutes, you're doing it wrong. Thief's OMs never, ever pulled this kind of shit. Not even Downwinder's.
The good FMs are the ones that keep it simple and keep it straightforward.
It's like the difference between Hexen and Hexen II. Hexen, the original, is a bunch of switch-hunt bullshit with a lot of "wtf did that do?" moments. Hexen II has actual puzzles with immediate feedback. (Excepting the tile puzzle in the Egypt hub... but that's a different problem)

Yes, admittedly I did get stuck a few times in Dracula and had to ask people for help on the forum, but I like that personally. And it enhances the replay value of the missions, for me at least.

You say it is confirmed - can you link to where it was posted?

Egghead said it was a "No" in a livestream.

How dare you imply "A door has opened on the Seven Portals" was insufficient feedback! (God, how I hated this game!)
