Stephane Roy has just said (finally!) that there will be no NuThief editing tools released for the fans. And it seems that the game will be in desperate need of some modding.*
No modding tools, TTLG.
Game over
*BTW, one of my fellow Thief community members, who was invited to play the game in London, has just posted a very detailed report from the gameplay (training mission and Lockdown). I hope she will come here to talk about it. In short: she was rather disappointed. The graphics look good, the game is quite challenging, AI seems fine, but... the maps are tiny, loot placement makes no sense, the movement is terrible and very, very restricted (Garrett can't mantle even small crates, he can't jump from the beam and onto the balcony etc.). Forget the freedom of exploration.

Someone owes me $50 because I predicted that from the beginning. When was the last non-sandbox game to get modding tools, either official or unofficial?
(I'll take a copy of Dark Souls II for PC instead of the cash, thanks)

As expected...This will of course eliminate any chance of longevity for NuThief.

Shit happened...This is bad news, even if predictable...
PS. Tiny, corridor missions are my main concern but I still hope latter mission will be bigger and more complex (since we have a gps system in the game:p)

Well, even some possibly big missions will not compensate for terrible movement restrictions.
Contextual movement implementation was second on my list of concerns (right after small and linear missions). Check.

Absolutely expected, both in the result and how they have attempted to hide an official answer until all their pre orders are in.

I doubt them announcing mod support as late as they did had a single damn thing to do with preorders. As nice as it is having it around, I doubt there are more than a couple hundred people waiting with baited breath for an official announcement on the subject.

Yeah, it's not a conspiracy theory or anything.
What is with this place, why does everything have to have some kind of sinister motive behind it?

Yes, of course...Some of us didn't need hands-on gameplay to realize this long ago.

Yes, that was a marketing decision, in order to stave-off any negative reaction in the community.
