I meant to bump this thread back when I caught this movie in the dollar theater that actually costs more than a dollar, but, well, I didn't.
Kick Ass was a lot of fun without actually being as good as it could have been, a vulgar surface-level romp that wasn't the least bit emotionally engaging. Which was fine, as it succeeded as entertaining trash--a word I don't use pejoratively--and it easily lived up to its title. But still, think how great it could have been had the movie deigned to connect believably with the protagonist and his relationships with those around him, most crucially (as Muz pointed out) the girl. The movie was too cool for that shit, I get it, but a movie can only go so far if the audience ultimately doesn't really care.
But still: three out of four sketched dongs, I more than got my dollar that was actually more than a dollar's worth.
